Almost 12 million views on Youtube
holy . that 1st vid is the lamest thing I ever seen in my llife.
Well, it did lack the heavy production value that only PAC money can provide (for example, see 2nd video in this thread).
I understand the sentiment behind the video here, but just because we helped people in Iraq doesn't mean that it wasn't a mistake. There are plenty of soldiers and servicemen who never wanted to go into that war from the beginning. I don't know if you were ever in the military, but once you're in you complete your mission. It isn't your job to question the political reasons behind it because your ass and your friends' asses are on the line. Soldiers are not going to go into a hostile situation like Iraq and question what's going on. Do you understand how hard that would be to wake up every morning knowing you might have to shoot someone, maybe even a young man, all while questioning yourself? Being a vet, my personal opinion is that the use of any serviceman in a political advertisement while they are still in the service is straight exploitation. Obviously their opinions and votes matter, but it is a conflict of interest for them to be used as pawns in either sides game of politics.
BTW
Buyer's remorse, much??

it's just so lame. I feel like going out and killing a little chicken just to clear my head.
Well, at least you explained why you thought it was lame.
Don't forget that it is un-patriotic to speak out against the war.![]()
Also, if you use the logic of the first video, there are a lot of other countries out their where people face tyranny everyday and have been for years and we do nothing. There are people who face getting raped and having their bodies mutilated by machetes everyday and we do nothing. So please leave this bs about free people and giving them freedom at the door. That's not the reason we went into Iraq. We went in because of WMD's and they weren't there. I'll say again, maybe you know maybe you don't, seeing someone you love or care about die without a good reason is something you can't rationalize so you try to do it by looking at what has been accomplished otherwise they died for nothing.
Here's some wierd ass numbers:
A Military Times poll shows that active military supports McCain 68% to Obama's 23%.
But, African-American service members polled support Obama 79% to McCain's 12%.

Yeah, because I've ever said that.![]()
exactly. that is why I think that is ing lame. Same lame ing George W Bush has been spewing. But W is bull ting.
I just think it's so lame that people actually beleive the reason we are in Iraq is for their freedom.
I haven't seen any of the videos but your assertion that active duty military should not speak out with their political views is wrong to me. They have just as much a right to voice their views as anyone else. No one forces them into these ads, they do so because they WANT to. No one is getting "used" here. There is no conflict of interests, in my opinion.
I think they should speak their minds, but from my point of view as a vet, its a conflict of interest while you are serving. Vote for who you want to, talk to your peers and promote your candidate, but making political commercials steps over a line for me. Some officers won't even vote because they feel its a conflict of interest. Its just my opinion, doesn't mean they can't do it. This type of stuff though isn't black and white as the video would make it seem. Like everything else, I guess![]()
As a veteran I disagree. When I served we all talked about politics all the time and we all voted. The one thing we all had in common though is that we supported our Commander in Chief. It didn't matter if he was a Republican or a Democrat...he was our CIC. Every American has the right to speak out regardless of whether or not they are wearing the uniform of our Military Services.
The numbers you posted do not mean what you said they mean.
Talking about it and making political commercials are two different things, but agree to disagree.
I just feel like the message of the video muddles the internal conflict of vets that serve. They are intensely and emotionally tied to the conflict. They want victory and want to see their great sacrifices were not made for naught. I'm not condemning the vet in the video at all, but both sides just use them as pawns in their game once they make a public statement like this.
If we believe this, then our military's job is to be in lots of countries around the world- many worse off than Iraq.
I hear what you're saying and seeing as i've never served I can't relate to it the same way you can.
you mean we are not there to save the little children of Iraq!?!?!?!??! I am shocked!
Yeah. Maybe we should plan to invade China. And free Tibet.
I noticed you bolded an underlined "older, more senior in rank and less ethnically diverse". What are you trying to say?
I concur.![]()
