Thanks Manu for playing in the olympics and aggravating the injury to your ankle. Since it's an impingement, and all the rest in the world wasn't going to make it better, you might have gone through the summer and through training camp before aggravating it, and then you'd still have to get the surgery and you'd be out until after the all-star break.

Thank you, Manu, for playing in the Olympics and aggravating your injury then instead of unknowingly returning to the Spurs only to aggravate your injury in pre-season or early in the regular season and having to be out even longer.

edit: dammit, basically said what Obstructed View said. I should read posts before posting.

And, that's fine. He technically wasn't obligated to listen to Pop regarding that anyway. So, "respectfully" not listening to Pop has nothing to do with anything.

Even though you are specifically talking about Manu the underlying take is basically that all NBA players should not play in the Olympics since if injured they can't perform their primary duties for their respective teams and fans. That just isn't going to happen. Stern is adamant about that and no NBA team can forbid their palyers from participating in the games. Cuban made basically the same point and the NBA FO politely told him to STFU IIRC. International expansion, especially the merchandising end of it, is one of Stern's pet projects. He has made tons of money on it and wont jeopardize it by allowng NBA teams to forbid it's players from participating in the Olympics thereby alienating the foreign markets and. "Money talks and BS walks"

Anyway O_V made the point many have already stated that Manu's ankle was a ticking time bomb which was going to explode at any given moment. Better to have it happen in the offseason, have surgery and come back and be able to play rather than having the possibility of it going out during the middle of the season and missing the playoffs.

In hindsight this acutally is a good thing for the Spurs and Manu. Now when he comes back he'll have had avioided at lest 6 - 8 weeks of NBA wear and tear making him fresher come playoff time. Or at least that is the hope.

thanks for making such a dumbass post mrs spurs... let's break it down.

you're trying to call out manu by throwing in his face and then want to say how much you miss him on the court? in' re ed.

these are the facts. spurs are down 0-2 and it doesn't really matter that much at this point even if manu had played in those games. it's the 1st week for christs sake.

on another note, manu needed surgery for a long time now and i see this as finally doing what has needed to be done type of situation. if it weren't the olympics it'd be the middle of the season. better now then later.

anyhow, manu keep doing what you're doing hombre. you're a in' warrior.

Click on Control Panel. It's on the black bar near the top of the page. Along the left side (at the bottom) there is an option for buddy and ignore lists. Click on it. Type his name into the ignore list part and click the add to list button.
