SO, I don't know what to think. Did Obama misspeak? It's not a question about what I have in MY head; what did he have in HIS head when he suggested we ought to have a security force, AS POWERFUL as our military - in this country?

It could mean he wants to form a liberal Gestapo charged with rounding up all of Sarah Palin's "real" Americans into a re-education camp...or it could just be a typically vague pre-election fundraising speech, and all he's really after is more funding for nuke detection at ports. I vote based on personality and temperment, not stated campaign speeches. After all, if I took everything a Presidential candidate said as gospel, I would have had to vote for the 2000 candidate who said this:

"If we're an arrogant nation, they'll resent us; if we're a humble nation, but strong, they'll welcome us. And our nation stands alone right now in the world in terms of power, and that's why we've got to be humble, and yet project strength in a way that promotes freedom."
