It will take some adapted chemistry and running plays and our offense through Tim to win anything now. This last game had the chemistry of a Old man on Viagra and born again christian.
You guys probably don't want to hear this but as a Laker fan, the situation the Spurs are going through seems eerily familiar.
In 2003, the Lakers were going for their 4th in a row. During the off season, the fat Shaq decided to not have necessary surgery and ended up doing so on "company time". In any event, the Lakers sputtered out of the gate. It took Kobe's flurry of 9(?) 40 point games that managed to get the Lakers back in the playoffs.
The Lakers at that point were largely old and ineffective outside of Kobe. Horry was burned out because he had to play an inordinate amount of minutes for his old, crusy ass. Fox and Fish were a s of themselves. When Shaq came back, the team didn't have the rhythm and TD smashed Shaq in the playoffs.
It just seems like Manu's lost is severe for these Spurs. Although Manu's reason for being out isn't the same as Shaq's, the end result is the same. He's not there at the start of the season. Normal stalwarts like Bowen are playing 10 ineffective minutes. Guys like Finley who had productive minutes look about as horrific as our geriatric crew in 03. Scrubs like Bonner are being given an inordinate amount of minutes because of the cascading effect of the injury and the ineffectiveness of normally reliable role players(Medvedenko?).
In any event, it's not time to panic because at the end of the day, it's still TD, Tony and Manu in April. Let's just hope the hole isn't too deep before Manu comes back.

At the beginning of the 2006-2007, the Suns started out 1-5, but ended the season at 61-21. They played the Spurs in the 2nd round in what was considered the "real" Finals of that postseason.
In that same season, the Mavs started 0-4 before going on a 12-game win streak. They ended the season with 67 wins and the 1st seed.
So if things seem really bad right now, you have to remember that there are still 79 games left in the season. The Spurs are going to click one of these days, and then the rest of the league will have to watch out.
i find it freaky that i find solace in the words of opposing fans... unlike some of the so called spurs fans who only predict doom and gloom.

I cant believe so many "Spurs fans" are already jumping off the boat. I saw some great talent out there on that Spurs team tonight.
George Hill is going to be a great backup for Tony. And you can quote me on that. Great Defense,rebounding and a great shooter. All he needs is some experience and come playoff time stick it to any backup PG in the west.
Desmon Farmer is already showing signs that he could be the 2nd coming of S-Jax. Sure hes not as tall and athletic but he has that loud mouth, and toughness that the Spurs dont have to get the team riled up. The guy is straight up fearless. I can see him hitting some really big shots in the regular season. I just hope that Pop continues to play him regular minutes.
Roger Mason. It seems every game i see him he seems to be getting better. He has such a fantastic shot mechanic that i expect the ball to go in everytime he releases it. Not only is a fantastic shooter but he is a thinking mans basketball player as well. Not a chunker and a better than average passer. The starting position belongs to him once Manu comes back. Book it!
AND DONT FORGET....Ian Mahinmi. This young guy gives us athletecism and a big body we have been lacking for a LONG LONG time. I dont care if hes not the most polished player but if he can throw it down from time to time and run the fast break than we got that long awaited athletic big man weve been waiting for.
Im not worried at the least bit. I know things happen for a reason. This Spurs team will endure the pains in the beginning but in the end, they hopefully will reap its benefits.....

Those teams didn't share these similarities with these spurs and the 03 lakers.
1. Star player that's out at the start of the season for an extended period.
2. Role players that are called upon but are incapable of doing so for two reasons a. too old, b. too crappy.
I am not that worried. It's just the beginning of the season. There is still time for the Spurs. I do not think they will miss the playoffs. I do not know what is going on with them. It's really puzzling. I know Manu's out, but they should still be playing better than they are.

Jonnybravo is talking about 2002/2003 season. I still remember Shaq that offseason ing around and waiting until the last minute to do that toe surgery. Why did Shaq put it off so long? Did he think it was going to heal by resting it or he just didn't want to work out so he waited until the season was about to start? Kobe was not happy with Shaq that offseason either. He was very pissed off.
The Spurs are going back to the old tradition of starting off the season poorly before winning championships. See: '99, '03
The season before, Suns Amare Stoudemire out for the entire year and they went as far as the Western Conference Finals against Dallas.
Yeah, because Malone has such a history of delivering in the big games.

I see Pop taking away playing time from Bowen, increasing Mason's time on the court, and Hill being the first guard off the bench.
Kinda agree I think the biggest problem was shaq and Kobesters egos. They had everything else, we need to upgrade at the 5 spot because we can live with one dud in the line up but 2 guys givining major mins and producing nothing....very hard to overcome. Dont need to look any further than the fact our leading shot blocker is Roger Mason to see why teams are shooting 50% against us.
I dont care how many stars you have if you let teams shoot 50% against you you are gonna lose 9 out of 10 games.
Hill looks good those Lakers are similar to these Spurs but Manu would have to be the Manu of the regular season last year and soem people feel he may never get back there
I hope not Manu is 1 of my fave non-Lakers (minus the flopping) but a lot depends on Manu being 100%
Curious to see how Spurs respond to night if they smack thet ish out of Minny on the road ...then the SPurs are still the Spurs ..if it's close wont mean as much but you will at least have a 1 in the "W" column ...

Agree wholeheartedly with everything except for the Desmon thing, cuz so far he has driven 0 times, compared to Hill's 2 in his FIRST NBA GAME. Farmer is looking too shy right now.
