Things just got a little more interesting at the SF spot... (and by interesting, I mean ugly).

Stick a fork in Bowen. He is done. He's never improved his game. Reflexes and speed decline with age. Without his stellar deffensive talent he is useless. With Mason on board we have someonme who can shoot the 3 at a high percentage.

The fans wont like what I've had to say but the truth is the truth. Bowen does not incite fear in anyone anymore

    No , captain obvious.
Some fans are talking about this for years, but were labeled as ignorant traitors. Because using their own eyes or brain is forbidden by "almighty elite" on this board. Bruce was great and has big merits for Spurs team success in the past. Nobody can take that from him, but even the best pair of shoes gets useless after a while.

With Manu out, Pop is trying to find more offense, so Bowen is playing little.

I don't think that Bowen has played enough yet this season for everyone to think that he is "done." I'm not saying he is or isn't. I'm just say that it's impossible to know at this point. Bowen had a great year defensively last year, despite many people only remembering the Lakers series.

I like that Mason is emerging and he should move into Finley's spot in the starting lineup. I think that's becoming more and more obvious. But I don't think that's obvious that Bowen is done as a starter or a key asset to this team.

I think Ime should start with Mason. When Manu comes back then Pop can look at starting Bruce again. If Pop doesn't want to bench Bowen then at the very least he needs to start Mason. I do not want Finley starting anymore games at all.

Vaughn needs to be 3rd string PG and Finley needs to be 3rd string SG.

Who's the main man for the 2nd unit, then? Hill? I'd throw Farmer in for consideration, but he still seems to be 3rd string.

Hill, Farmer, Bowen, Finley will have spread the scoring in the second unit.

He is done for quite some time and not only this season...and so is Finley for that matter.

Heck it was easy to see Bruce lost a step. Same goes with all the Spurs, except Tony.

Agree. To find more offense and to rest him 'cause the b2b.
About Mason, I don't want to argue against Pop but the starting lineup of the second half with Mason and Oberto was better than the lineup with he opened the game.
I guess he thinks if Mason's starter, nobody scores in the second team...But the Spurs loss in the early minutes of the 1st quarter the last two games.

When you're down 20 points and score in the 30's by half you need more O than D.

Mason has shown me nothing outside of a dribble and pop up jump shot. He seems an average dribbler and does not attack the rim. Giving him more minutes will expose this.

He should play 0 mins. The spurs have answers at SF and could trade for one.....Wright from Miami would be a good one who is getting no burn thanks to Beasley.

The spurs problems will only be solve by adding a big or by Ian coming out as a 10-8-2 type guy.

Spurs need to target Willams from NJ, Wright from Miami or resign watkins.

Bruce's decline is why this team has little shot at a le without a significant trade this year.

    Bingo.

This just pisses me off about Pop and R.C. even more. We've all seen this coming for years. And they had their answer at the SF spot in Buckets.

    F'in idiots.

My concern is Bowen has looked slow in all three games so far. That's not a good development for this team and its le chances this year.

Again, it's downright criminal that Pop and R.C. have stood around with their heads up their asses for the last five years expecting Bowen to hold down the SF spot for the entirety of Tim Duncan's prime.

I really don't believe at all that Bowen is done, however, I do think maybe his time as a starter on the Spurs may come to an end at some point this season. He's still a great defender by NBA standards even if it appears he may have lost a slight step or two. But the problem is that the league, especially the West, is filled with players who are a lot stronger and super athletic...exactly the types of players usually Bowen had trouble defending even in his prime.

I still have hope for Bowen, however, at this time I think less of him is better for the team. Maybe when Manu is back, it will be different.

I cannot stand Pop starting Finley. I know we need scoring off the bench, but its not working.

Bowen should be coming off the bench and averaging 10-15 minutes a game. He just doesn't add much to the rotation if he is not shutting down the best scorer from the other team. I don't think Udoka is any great shakes on defense either but he does seem to have a knack for rebounding...I say make him the starter and hope for the best.

Bowen sucks. Any non-Spurs fan knows that.

Tonight he was used perfectly... more as a defensive subs ution.

And he came up with the big steal at the end of regulation.

I have been saying for years that we should use him exclusively off the bench as a defensive stopper.

His offensive game is minimal and he becomes a liability in long stretches, because the Spurs don't have enough talent outside of the Big 3 to support such a liability.
