In the midst of the excitement -- Parker showing his shooting stroke and just shredding the league game by game -- I figure it's time to give the shooting coach his props.

Parker was very talented and had a lot of potential coming into the league, but it really has been evident that the Spurs coach has helped him raise his shooting percentage each year since he (Engelland) joined the club.

Let's hope he does the same for Hill and we have two shooting machines at PG...

Parker's shot is much softer and the rotation on the ball is perfect almost every time. Not sure what he did this summer but it's a pretty drastic change.

Me too. Its a pretty awesome feeling to have since its something that hasn't always been there for him. One of the coolest things of this dynasty is getting to watch the development of Tony.

Im standing corrected. Tony's shot does look alot better. I for one thought it was a waste of time teaching him to shoot. I thought it would be better if they spent more time teaching him to pass. But as long as they didnt waste time Ill stand corrected anyday.

I remember when Tony couldnt make anything beyond a layup....and now he can stroke it from 3pt range with consistency....

Give that Chip a huge raise.

To be honest with you. Thats how it happens for most players. From one summer to the next they change. Its cos they work so hard for so many summers and everyone forgets the summers you worked so hard on. Plus sometimes you work on something for an extended period of time and if it doesnt work you try something close to it. The important part is it seems tobe working.

His three point stroke is what impressed me most. His form is almost perfect now. If he can knock down a couple of those a game he will be completely unstoppable...not that he isn't now.

    Good call phxspurfan

Tony just gave credit to Chip on a french radio, explaining that the hard work they've done this summer in Malibu is already giving dividents.

They joked before the season began that with Manu out, Tp could score 50 in a game. Than right at the end of last night's game, Chip went to Tony and said :

    -'Told you !"

Dude does have a pretty stroke now. If he can stay consistent with it he'll avg 20+ a game over the season and save wear from not having to crash the paint every time.

    I'm completely behind this idea.

Parker is an absolute monster in the paint, but the impacts he takes in the lane, coupled with the fact that he started his NBA career at a young age, results in a risk that his career may end at an earlier age then people expect.

To clarify, I'm referring to general wear and tear and not catastrophic injury when I mention the risk to Parker's playing career length.

Any additional steps taken to minimize the need for parker to mix it up inside can help extend his professional career and should be very welcome for Spurs fans.

Hey, that's a pretty nice find. I didn't know Chip had believed Parker could drop 50.

...or maybe it was a joke that managed to actually happen!
