they are incredible at home.
tmac guarded roy in that last play
Both teams know how to win back-to-back championships too. Does yours?
Portland season ticket holder here.![]()
Would like to make two points about the Lakers game Portland played to put the two wins in perspective for you.
1. Portland was going into the game with a line-up that we hadn't practiced with at ALL in the preseason.
Blake
Roy
Outlaw
Aldridge
Oden
Outlaw is a great player, but he plays what I like to call Outlaw basketball. Outlaw basketball doesn't consist of driving, slashing, passing, defense, rotations or anything. Outlaw basketball consists of waiting for the other team to make a shot then taking a pull up 18ft jumper from the right side of the court.
He can make it quite a bit, but we might as well be playing 5 on 1. But when he's on fire, it all works out... so sometimes Portland will live and die by Outlaw's jumper, and McMillian hasn't decided to come down hard on him about it yet.
2. We played 13 minutes of basketball with a Center who was running on a sprained foot. This matters a LOT more than you think.
These two things combined would have guaranteed a loss against a team like the Lakers... add in off shooting from both Roy and Aldridge and you guarantee a blowout loss.
Now our next two losses we actually both had double digit leads in during the second half that we blew, and in both Outlaw played Outlaw basketball.
It was so bad after the Utah game, and the difference in his game tonight was so drastic that I can only imagine the coaches sat him down and grilled him... Because Outlaw came out trapping players on defense, slashing and moving on offense, and pulled down 13 rebounds.
I don't expect to lose more than one game against the Lakers this season, and not by more than 8.
The Spurs didn't lose against a team that much worse than the Lakers, we just had everything go wrong, and we're still gelling.
And man, I'm still loving that finish by Roy.
You know, if your team were actually that good, you'd know it, and you wouldn't be out on the message boards politicking for validation.
The Lakers have two players that have been on a championship team. It's more apporpriate to say that they know how to lose in the finals.![]()
Lucky win for the blazers, but the rockets could have made a better defensive move. The rockets will be fine. They are way ahead of the Spurs as far as getting the news guys into rhythm.
Yeah I took a look at both those teams rosters and didn't see Hakeem, Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, or Shaq on any of them. So I'm thinking neither of those teams know how to win back to back championships.
then the rockets were lucky with yaos play too.
That last shot should never have happened. He did not get the shot off in time. The time keeper sucked.
That being said. Addlehead played Yao over 40 minutes again. 41 minutes to be exact. We are going to be Yaoless by playofftime
Brandon Roy is THE MAN! Just a terrific finish after sucking hard for most of the game. The Rockets are good and I think they'll beat the Lakers. We just need to stay afloat until we get Greg back and then we'll take off.
tlongs back! =D
and while i agree the rockets are good, you probably hope they win so the lakers get their 1st loss of the season
Portland are damn good..And the are playing without there star..
first game at home for lakers
also portland bought into hype how good they are
if I was their coach I would have been pleased with the spanking lakers handed them
yeah
their star has played 33 games since highschool![]()
Did you just agree to suck a ?
Nope, just letting you know you got get it out of your ass first in case anyone does. And what's with the you Rockets fan out of nowhere?
![]()
Okay..so Lakers dismantled your team and made them look like a JV team...then you say they will lose to a team that lost to you....
![]()
Gee, I'm sure they can't beat the Lakers in Portland.![]()
I'm talking about this year, not wins or losses prior to this season. The Blazers are only going to get better with the young talent they have.
We'll just have to wait and see then. Hopefully Oden is back and healthy by then.
I jumped out of my bed when i saw Roy make that shot....amazing
