Hansbrough sucks. We need a perimeter player (SF) that can fill it up and play some D.
Oh, and... Hansbrough will never deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Tim or Dave.
I know it's early (really really early), but has anyone thought about making comparisons to 1996 yet? The year when the Admiral only played 6 games and Sean missed half the season. A dismal 20-win season that was handsomely rewarded with the first overall pick and subsequently 4 les.
Fast forward to present day. Manu out for the first month and a half. Parker just went down tonight with an injury. If we keep going this way, and the West expected to be even more hotly contested as last season, dare I say... TYLER HANSBROUGH!
Both were dominant 4 year starters for their respective ACC schools. Both Naismith National Player of the Year Award winners. Both ACC player of the year winners. ACC Tournament MVPs. Collegiate 20+/10+.
I'm not giving up on the season, I'm just dreaming wildly right now. Could this be the future?

Why the would we want Hansbrough?
Hansbrough would be a waste of a high pick..
Spurs could make the playoffs and still get Hansbrough. I don't think he will be a top 10 pick.
agreed.
Hansbrough is going to be a great pick. In the mold that other ACC whiteboy bigmen like Laettner and Cherokee Parks were great picks.
If we make the playoffs, we don't get a draft pick.
General rule is to stay away from drafting lottery white big men. They end up as busts too often.
How long before you people grasp the concept of me suggesting that the Spurs tank the season?
1. No tradeable commodities (contracts, picks or talent).
2. Next year's 1st rounder goes to OKL if we make the playoffs.
3. The team is old.
4. The front office is either inept or unwilling to trade for better talent.
5. The way the Spurs won their les was to win the lottery... twice.
How else do you presume we'll get better?
I thought this was an interesting thread until I read the name Tyler Hansbrough.
Tyler is rated #24 in ESPN's 09 draft prospect rankings.
Tyler also has a stress fracture in his foot or leg right now. No thanks.
@ Tyler Hansbrough
The Spurs could finish with 72 wins and still probably have a better than average shot at landing him in the draft. Non-athletic, undersized seniors who are battling injuries due to wear and tear aren't exactly of high priority in NBA drafts.
You mean in the second round, since we traded our first?
Yeah that second rounder from Charlotte might not be a horrible place to take him . . .

First of all, Bust, second of all, even if he has a good season and we managed to beat out whatever dumb team wants to draft him, we'd draft Pepe Rodriguez out of South Miami Community College instead, to the disbelief of every one on this entire forum.
Sad thing is, he is our future after Tim retires.
