Kanye West says he's 'voice of this generation'
LONDON – Kanye West is to music what Michael Jordan was to basketball — at least that's what West thinks, in his humble estimation.
"I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice," he said in an interview on Wednesday. "It's me settling into that position of just really accepting that it's one thing to say you want to do it and it's another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan."
It's easy to be loud when you have a big mouth and are always talking. The loudest voice is heard, but that doesn't mean it's listened to.
He is an ass, but I love his music. What's been released up to this point, anyway. I'll wait til I get the new album in its entirety to make a decision on it.
I could not name one of his songs. The reason I heard of this bag cuz of dumb statements like this or "Bush hates black people" idiot
I only know of one song from this person and I never even heard it. "Spittin from the wire" or whatever because my 16 year old cousin.
The guy is a moron. With his whining behind scenes for not winning an award, and Bush hates black people, I cannot believe anyone buys his music.
I give Kanye a lot of credit for having the balls to call out the media for their coverage of Katrina and for calling out that re Bush too, but he's delusional if he thinks he's one of the best rappers out now.
Kanye said that Bush didn't care about black people, not that he hated them. There's a difference.
The ego is incredibly tiresome, however. There is an over-the-top quality that makes me think it's not entirely without a sense of humor, but the joke stopped being funny a while ago. I like his first three albums, but he's hardly new or fresh or innovative anymore.
Imagine if Kanye, Shaq, Terrell Owens, and Cristiano Ronaldo all got together in a room. Would the Earth survive?

I don't need to know his political views, but the guy is a great artist.
Also, the drive that he had was amazing.
The guy was told he would never make it, and then proceeds to be on top of the industry.
Kanye West is popular amongst his core audience but in general he's just another lindsay lohan with marginally more talent. He's a much better entrepreneur, but a sucker nonetheless.

he's another glorified karaoke participator that makes way more than the next. i know not a whole lot of people really don't look at the actual musicianship in the music these days, and i'm not saying a run of the mill 3 and a half minue length tune needs to have a miliion notes per section, but this dude is average at best. oh well. to each their own.

yeah i think he knows that wihtout his loud mouth he cant draw attention to his latest releases/collaborations. pretty much anything on the radio these days is garbage and not worth listening too. voice of our generation? lolol someone please slap this guy back into reality

I have never heard one of Kanye West's songs. I couldn't pick him out of a lineup and if it weren't for the stupid things he says I wouldn't even recognize his name. My grandmother has never watched an NBA game in her life and knows who Michael Jordan is.
I like Kanye but the ego isn't as funny as it used to be, plus I discovered Lupe Fiasco. True talent and substance there.
Besides Kanye is falling off. His 2nd album was good but not as good as the first. His new song sucks. He's not getting any better.
