No, they won't.
It's not a real issue.
Although I've never lived there and have only set foot in the city a handful of times, I'm aware San Antone is the most politically conservative of the big Texas cities.
I feel the mood has prevented the Spurs from going after solid players due to them not measuring up to the "values" the organization trumpets. Going back to the late 90's, there was Sprewell, and then not going after Artest, and letting SJax take off, not looking at Vince Carter, and probably now bypassing Marbury. Not to mention the drafts consisting of projects and longshot oversea players.
Point is that it's all catching up and yes we've got 15 solid citizens on the roster, a great bunch of guys to be sure - only collectively they're subpar to be kind. There's no reason even without Ginobili and Parker, should this team be struggling to win 2 games with a still elite Duncan anchoring the middle.
Its unique to San Antone is comparison to all other franchises, and the character over contribution mantra needs to be revisited if the Spurs wish to remain in the top tier of the league going forward.
Will Holt, Buford, and Pop concede the point?
No, they won't.
It's not a real issue.
Uh what?
How is drafting a French rapper, an Argentine who lit up the Italian League, and a black guy from the Virgin Islands who's married to a white woman conservative?
San Antonio is not the most conservative large city in Texas. That prize would go to Houston-home of the neo-con movement.
In small cities-just a little north of SA is New Braunfels in Comal county; 93% of the registered voters are Republican. They have never acknowledged that they owe the existence of their precious springs to a bunch of Democrats in the Sierra Club. The election has stunned the out of them.
All that aside everyone, liberal or conservative, in SA and the surrounding areas loves the Spurs.
It seems like a lot of the franchises in the NBA are trying to emulate the Spurs. Holt & Co. have a winning formula.
That's what I was thinking. SA is pretty liberal as far as Texas goes (obviously significantly less so than Austin and a few other hot spots), and rather middle of the road overall as far as I've seen.
If only SA shared the progressive values of Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, or Orlando, the Spurs would have won seven championships.
Last I checked, SA is full of those one things from south of the border........you know, Mexicans. And if I know anything it's that Mexicans love there fruit cups sold on corners, their bars put on windows, their candy to be all ed up and weird looking, their tripe to be served in a ed up salty soup, their women to be enormous, their buffets to be plentiful, their downtown to be good and dirty, and their politicians to be liberal.
Still bitter about McCain's loss, huh?
What does my take on SA locals have to do with McCains loss?
Right, you're an idiot, my bad.
Things? Last I checked, they were human beings, not things.
Just ignore him when he goes off like that. You wouldn't argue with a re would you?
Why do I get the sneaky suspection that you'd not even mutter these words to an actual Mexican person in real life, face to face.
It's easy to be a gigantic asshole in the comfort of your parents house.
I had Menudo for lunch. I love that stuff.![]()
Then you didn't stay long enough. No way is SA the most conservative.
lol. "An actual Mexican" as if they are all menacing figures who would not stand for it
A lot of Mexicans are actually pretty conservative and would benefit from such policies. If it weren't for the stereotype the lib s have brainwashed people into thinking all are racists.
Racists because they won't give them handouts in return for votes.
Obama carried Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston and El Paso. What major Texas city did he not carry?
Fort Worth. That makes me sad that my hometown didn't come through.
Says Amy the signing Ape.
Don't get mad because I summed up your family perfectly.
Now purchase a carameled apple on a street corner and move along.
please. You know how many of these guys I've worked around. They're all pussycats and many, many, many of them are my very good friends who yes, I indeed do say the same thing to them in person. Just because you're a little that is scared of a particular race doesn't mean you have to project your insecurities towards me.
Now tell me when the next Chili's is opening in SA you little .
I just don't get it. Maybe I've never had it prepared correctly. I wonder if they'll ever open up something on the north end that makes good menudo...........Buddy Holly, let me know when they're going to open up a place would ya.
beware user, you are approaching BRHornets level ignorance. beware user, you are approaching BRHornets level ignorance. step away from the computer and read a book.
Drive to the south side, my post is not ignorant, it's based in reality.
and you are exactly why we are dying for a change, and why it is happening in front of your very own eyes.
For every small minded person like you who has no respect for anybody else, there is a good person who is willing to change the world for the better.
