Most guys walking around at 220 fight at 205, really all of them walk around that heavy that are 205 contenders.. I like it, the way it is. Creates a good seperation between the 185 and 205 weight class..
They should still add it then. I'm sure there are a lot of potentially good fighters that are naturally at around 220.

Its very fair.
However, I do believe there should be a division between 205 and 265.
Why when most Light Heavies are around 220 anyway?? You create too many weight classes and it waters things down..
Well UFC is the NFL and there will never be compe ion for them. Its too late...someone would have had to get in around 2005 to make a dent. So if the UFC will have so many people in it, as we all hope, 1 more class won't water it down what so ever.
Every big sport has a alpha dog that has effectively killed anyone who wants to challenge it....UFC is so far ahead of anyone else there isn't even a distant 2nd.
If by critics they actually mean WWE marketing guys...Critics have noted that many of the fights on the UFC pay-per-view ended in the first round, leaving UFC producers scrambling to fill the three-hour event with content. The dearth of hearty compe ion left many viewers to watch less prestigious under-card fights and only served to bolster claims that UFC pay-per-view events can often be a "crap shoot" in regards to filling the full three hours.
Yeah I mean God forbid we get to see every fight on a card...
Between 205 and 265 when most guys are at 220 who fight at Light Heavy, i have to disagree.. So what would the class be like 220-240 or something like that? I'd rather have those guys make a choice to cut enough weight to make 205 or bulk up to fight at Heavyweight. I like the weight classes that are stacked with great contenders. Puts more pressure on the champ and opens the door for the belt to be changing hands often.. Another class would i feel water down the compe on at Light Heavy and Heavy, i don't think that's a good thing for the UFC. Boxing has suffered from way too many weight class for years..
MMA is going to start attracting a lot more college athletes that have nowhere else to go and its time to prepare. 1 extra weight class won't water anything down and will allow more people to fight at their natural weight.
between what weight would the class be??
I dunno. 235'''''''''''''''ish?
I just hate extreme weight cutting. I'd rather see two people with full gas tanks fighting at their best weight class rather than two guys depleted just to shed off 25 lbs.
This insane level of weight cutting we see in current MMA is a huge problem and will become a serious health issue. Theres nothing wrong with cutting 10lbs or so...but my God some of these guys are shedding off a limb to fight.
The problem with boxing classes is not only is there too many but there is too many ranking systems. MMA is so far from that and WAMMA needs to die a fast death asap.
I don't agree with this. The amount of athletes getting into MMA right now will more than fill out another Weight class between Light and Super heavy. I'm sure there are way more than a dozen great fighters in Light Heavy or Heavyweight that would much prefer to fight at 230 pounds. This will keep them from either having to cut an extreme amount of weight to fight 205ers, or bulk up enough so that they aren't outweighed by 30 pounds by the Lesnars of the world.
Agreed. Just go back and watch Brandon Vera from the fight night a couple months ago (not the UK card). He was terrible trying to change weight classes. He had nothing in the tank, and looked pathetic.
I think Vera is just pathetic period, and weight is the least of that guys problems..
I just saw video of round 2....how the did randy fall down, it lookd like he took a glancing right? Almost as if he was on the take.
Nah, you get hit in the right spot on the head it doesn't matter how hard you get hit you are gonna be dazed.
I think there is a lot of very athletic defensive tackles in the NCAA that could make the transition to MMA with some training. I bring up DT's specifically due to size as it relates to this discussion.
Fat slobby OT's need not apply......
The UFC needs to expand a bit...it wasn't that long ago that there was no lightweight division. Just a little over two years when Joe Lauzon whooped up on Jens to bring the division back...
Again...I am just talking about 1 more class between 205 and 265. Also if not now then 1 day 265 will been to be expanded. You have these huge athletes that have no where to go after college.. so many will be trying MMA just to see if they can squeeze a few more years out of there body before they put on a tie.
With Lesnar and his "lunchbox size" fists...I got so tired of hearing that last night..and the fact that it hit him perfect...well lets just say a lot of people would fall from that.
lunchbox > ham hocks
I agree...stfu about his hands...so sick of hearing about that...
Alright Alright GoundnPound, (Nice Name BTW, welcome to the forum) you -bags have convinced me the UFC needs to expand, guys happy now..
I love hearing about those hands, and Goldberg saying how Wrestlers don't like to be on their back, now that is some first rate commentating heh..![]()
This just in from Goldie, JJ experts really get pissed when they get submitted and strikers want to throw themselves off roof-tops when they get KTFO..
100 UFC events and he still sucks...
Got a silly question for everybody and I know somebody here will have the answer.
I'm looking for a Tapout hat that looks like this (but black) with red lettering. I can't remember which fighter's crew had one of their guys wearing it, though, so it's hard to find. It was during UFC 91.
