A note on another former Spur: Robert Horry spent part of Sunday afternoon at a restaurant near the Spurs' practice facility having lunch and watching football.
Did anyone else find this su ious?

Beno Udrih is a talented player, but he is no where near all-star caliber - not even close.
Talent wise? You're out of your mind. He's very good at everything, he just doesn't give a half the time about the game or his teammates.

Those of us on the outside got pissed off at Pop for not playing him, but Beno's the stereotypical over-pampered spoiled athlete, and Pop had to see him every day next to Parker, who worked his ass off every day for three straight years just to be close to as good a shooter as Beno is. Watching the contrast between those two guys had to chap Pop's ass. We were joking about how pissed off Pop was when Beno scored tonight, but it's probably because he sees Beno's success as an insult to guys like Parker who work every day to make themselves better.

Just a question before we stop, what would you attribute the passivity to?
I don't know that I'd attribute it to anything. It's a long season, and like you said, he can't do everything every single night. He's been doing an excellent job of coming alive on the offensive end at the end of games, and his defense has been much better on the whole, and stellar at times. But I watched both of those games and he just got beat to spots, caught out of position and out-battled by smaller guys for the ball. With Manu and Tony out everything he does or doesn't do is magnified. I'm perfectly willing to chalk it up to just an incredible fluke of bad bounces as long as it doesn't happen again soon.

I just looked, and Duncan had back to back 5 rebound games twice last year, both times in November.

I'll join you in the fluke theory. I'll have to re-watch the games and pay better attention to what happened.

I hope it doesn't happen again, it seems like he's warmed up. Maybe it's a November thing and it is standing out more because of his being the only one standing.

I don't think anyone that points out his mistakes is forgetting how good he's been this year and how incredible he's been at the end of games. I'm certainly not. To me, if we're discussing the team and critiquing the players, nobody gets a pass.

No one should get a pass, it's a team sport. It takes all of them to win. Or lose.

Obviously I'm biased, and I try to keep that in mind when Duncan is the one being critiqued. He should be called out when he has it coming.

But I've never seen him play without heart, which is the comment that started this conversation. He may have bad games but I believe his heart is always in it and he steps on the court every game hunting for the win.

Well, I did call it gutless, but Bogut had 17 boards and just manhandled him, and it pisses me off because that shouldn't happen. Duncan obviously thought so as well because of the way he performed in the last few minutes. Maybe I wouldn't have the balls to call him out if I were the coach, but I'm also not buying the "he was saving his fouls" story.

awesome win, Timmy put the team on his back again for those last minutes.

Wonder if Finley's dunk will be the NBA's top play of the day, pretty incredible dunk there.
