WASHINGTON -- The Securities and Exchange Commission has accused Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban of insider trading.
The Wall Street Journal on Monday reported that Cuban is alleged to have dumped shares in Mamma.com upon learning it was raising money in a private offering.
In a civil action, the SEC claims Cuban sold his entire 6 percent stake in late June 2004 after learning that Mamma.com was raising money through a private investment in a public en y (also known as PIPE), the Journal reported.
The following day, Mamma.com announced the PIPE financing and shares of the company dropped by more than 10 percent. By selling his ownership stake, Cuban avoided more than $750,000 in losses, the Journal reported.

he always has been a cheater....
martha stewart anyone?
he hasnt won anything to be considered a cheater
Will he have to sleep with one eye open and his ass to the wall while he's in prison?
And Christmas comes early this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This has to be the most dysfunctional organization in the history of sports.
Can't wait to read about it in his awesome "MavsBlog".![]()
Why would he avoid prison in this situation?
Because, as of now, it's only a civil complaint.
Oh, OK..thanks

The complaint is hilarious:

To set the scene: The CEO of a company Cuban partially owns calls him up with (confidential) bad news; Cuban gets pissed, knowing the news will sink the stock price; but he just received confidential information, so he can't sell! Here's how they say he handled this financial quandary:

do you think he even realized what he was doing was illegal? sure doesn't seem like it.

Read the complaint - of course he knew what he was doing was illegal. That's why he was pissed, because he was receiving information he couldn't legally act on.
Tell him to bring lots of vasoline with him when he is in the pen.
You said it mavfan, we didn't.
He can call Martha Stewart and find out how she coped with time in prison. I believe that one started out as a civil suit too![]()
Cuban should be in prison for creating that soft ass team.
