This thing has been around since 2005 and caused a much bigger stir when it first got distributed. I think VW is still suing the British guys who came up with the thing who claimed they never intended it to be released for public consumption.
I find it funny in a South Park "I can't believe I'm laughing at this" kind of way. But then, I also thought the Timothy McVeigh slapback was funny.
Some of us have morbid senses of humor. Had this been an actual ad by an actual company, I don't think I'd have found it acceptable or funny. But it's just a viral joke ad that a group of guys intended for internal portfolio fodder. So it's just a torn out page from a truly tasteless joke book. To me that makes a difference. We all have a friend who tells those horrible jokes that make you laugh despite yourself. That's what this is.
