    To say we would lose this game if Jho was playing is absurd. Without Jho, we only have 2 legitimate scorers (Dirk/Terry), and Terry is a hot/cold player.

    He's been good this year, and lately hasn't completely disappeared in the 2nd half of games.

    J-Ho has given us great 1st half production and, for the most part, his typical non-existent 2nd half.

    The worst thing is his defense, which is as bad as it's ever been. He was supposed to be our best perimeter defender, but he's been awful, especially at help defense.

    So a ballstopper on offense with limited 2nd half production, and a terrible defender. No thanks.

    The defensive intensity Williams and Singleton gave the entire team last night won the game. When the offense got stagnant, they got stops on defense. With Josh's lackadaisical approach to D this year, I'd bet my life that Houston would have gone on a huge run in the 2nd half and won the game.

    haha I said I'd consider the idea of having faith in this team. And I am now considering it. It's still crazy to think this team is good. They've beaten the T-Wolves, Knicks, Bobcats, a discombobulated Spurs team without Ginobili, and the Rockets without Yao.

    If Mavs can go 8-8 by the end of the month..

    they then have 7 straight home games. If they can go at least 5-2 things will look alot better...making them 13-10. its a far cry from 2-7 3 of those games are extremely winnable and splitting between the other 4 is very possible

    reminds me of when they had that 5 game stretch last year against teams like Charlotte, New York, Indiana, etc. and blew each team out by 20+ and everyone (myself included) thought they were gonna dominate the NBA. then they lost to the Celtics, Rockets, Spurs, Lakers, and on and on and we realized that they sucked ass.

    Take care of business against the Grizz and Pacers, then show me something against the Lakeshow. If they can do that, I'll be a little less skeptical.

    There is no excuse not to go 6-1 or 7-0 on that homestand, seriously.

    Anything less and I'll be disappointed

    Before the homestand I'm hoping we go atleast 3-1. @ STaples will be difficult, so I won't get too upset if we lose, but let's atleast play well. @ Arco is a loseable game but cmon it's the f'n Queens

    Grizzlies should be cake. Pacers are improved but a game we simply shouldn't lose.

    Here are some percentages for thought:

    1. Thus far, the Mavs have held opponents to 42.1% shooting from the field. That ranks 3rd best in the league behind Boston and Los Angeles. I don't think we're that good defensively, are we? This is somewhat offset by us forcing low # of turnovers and opponents getting to FT line

    2. Thus far, Mavs are shooting 30.3% behind the arc, which is 28th in the league. We just cannot expect to do anything this season if that doesn't pick up. Elite 3-PT shooting was an important part of our arsenal in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007. I think it hurts that we don't have a great shooter coming off the bench (not counting Terry), Stackhouse is done, Howard forgot to shoot 3's, Kidd only shoots spot up 3's (albeit pretty efficient), etc. It seems like the roster lacks a piece necessary to be good behind the arc.

    well large part of that # is due to JET shooting a high volume of 3's at a low % so I expect the number to go up. However, outside of Dirk, Kidd and JET we have no consistent 3pt shooters

    I should point out some fools gold with the defensvie FG % stat. WE still are 13th in the league in defensive efficiency, which just isn't very good.

    they also give up 12.2 offensive rebounds which is near the bottom of the league which will hurt your defense

    ...and ranking 2nd to last in forced TO's is terrible, Spurs are dead last

    This team the bed against the Lakers, healthy Rox, Cavs and Magic. Those are teams you see after April. I could care less what they do against Charlotte, Indiana or the Seattle SloppySeconds.

    I'll be happy if this team is 14-9 or better after than 7 game homestand.

    That really can make or break the season IMO.
