The Left has to be feeling like a bunch of idiots about right now.

So much for Hope and Change...

Well, for some of us, it is hopeful that Obama will be continuing some of Bush's more important policies.

So, whatever happened to "Obama is a dangerous socialist" or "Obama is the most liberal senator in Congress" or any of the other right-wing nonsense from the campaign? So far, Obama is doing an impersonation of Bill Clinton that eclipses Darrell Hammond's, just without the moral difficulties.

And which policies will that be?

And yeah - the left is feeling sooooooooooooo stupid right now. Trust me, having a president that is intelligent and makes smart pragmatic decisions is going to be such a burden to bear. We're all miserable with ourselves.

Hey, maybe as part of a new public works program he'll commission a new face on Mt. Rushmore for Bush? Hey! It'll create jobs!

And its funny to think that progressives even consider Gates to be the face of the Bush administration and all of its ups. It only took Bush late into his second term to get one right. Props!

Oh, he can still wreak havoc with his socialist tendencies in health care, the environment, and education.

But, I'm more curious about what the hope and changer, shut down Gitmo, pull out of Iraq idiots think of The One now.

The progressives who thought Obama was a peacenik simply chose not to listen to his words.

Obama did not say the Iraq war was a mistake because he believes American foreign policy should be about giving everybody in the world chocolate bunnies instead of war.

Obama said The Iraq war was a mistake because it distracted the U.S. from all the good killin' the military was doing in Afghanistan.

Iraqis, and now Karzai, want a firm withdrawal date, and dubya appears ready to comply. Whether it's Gates or somebody else, a withdrawal is a withdrawal.

The change is pretty obvious-- Obama thought Gates was the best guy for the job, so he kept him despite his past political affiliations. Clearly, the type of thing Bush wouldn't do, and therefore, Change.

Gates is registered as an independent, so he kisses whatever ass he needs to keep his job.

Washington Old Guard Wins on Gates

"Let’s revisit the Reagan years. At the time, I was working for the House Democratic leadership and when President Ronald Reagan was meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, I and some other Democrats were working with some on the Reagan side regarding historic negotiations between Washington and Moscow.

Bob Gates, who was deputy CIA director, was against this. He resisted the idea that Gorbachev was different from his Soviet predecessors, while Reagan correctly saw the monumental opportunity that Gorbachev’s emergence represented and was determined to make the most of it, whatever we think of other Reagan policies.
At that defining moment in history, Bob Gates was horrendously wrong. His judgment, knowledge and advice were terrible, even though he was considered a Soviet expert inside the CIA. …"

What specific problem do you have with retaining Gates?
