As we head in to the month of December it looks like it's a race of about six teams that could win the NBA Championship but according to the oddsmakers, there is three teams with a realistic chance.
The Los Angeles Lakers are a heavy favorite at only 2/1 to win the NBA le. The Lakers are 12-1 on the season scoring 107 points per game while surrendering only 92.7. Kobe Bryant leads Los Angeles with a 23.7 scoring average, 3.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
After the Lakers, the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics are 4/1 to repeat. Boston is 15-2 on the young season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are led by MVP favorite Lebron James. Cleveland is 13-3 including 9-0 at home. James is averaging a league best 27.9 points per game. Online sportsbooks have Cleveland as a little more than a 8/1 favorite to win it all in 2009.
Possible long shots include the Orlando Magic at 25/1 and the San Antonio Spurs at 20/1. Orlando is 12-4 and in first place in the Southeast division while the Spurs got off to a slow start and have battled injury but are still 8-6 in the Southwest division.

So are the Spurs still long shots to win the NBA finals? I would give them a 4/1 shot myself ..especially how well they were doing while thay were hurt. If they win 90% of the next 15 games ill give them a 2/1 shot. But the most deciding factor when betting of course is how well they do in the second half of the season. The spurs are looking scary, and that's awesome!

so if I put $100 down on the Spurs to win right now, does that mean I would win $2,000 if they actually won?
It looks like a very exclusive deal to me! You might as well bet for the Spurs right now... I mean why wouldnt you?
No it means you win like 20 thousand million
put ur stimulas check into it
There used to be a great website that I used called Tradesports.com
You could buy and trade sports futures.
I bought the Spurs "stock" after the 1st few losses of the 2003 Rodeo Road Trip. At the time, their "stock" was like 45-1.
The good news is that you could sell part of it over the year.
Ended up making about $6000 off of about a $225 investment.
Alas, it just went under this month, because I would have loaded up on it again.
It is 12.5 to 1 for them to make the finals.
