San Antonio’s Anthony Tolliver Assigned To Austin Toros
NEW YORK, Dec. 2, 2008 – The San Antonio Spurs today assigned rookie center Anthony Tolliver to the team’s NBA Development League affiliate Austin Toros. Additionally, the Spurs recalled second year center Ian Mahinmi to San Antonio following his two-week assignment in Austin. Tolliver becomes the NBA Development League’s ninth player to be assigned during the 2008-09 season.
Tolliver, 6-8, has appeared in 11 games for the Spurs this season, averaging 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.1 minutes. He recorded a career-high nine points and six rebounds on Nov. 12 in a loss at the Milwaukee Bucks. Tolliver also suited up for the Spurs during the 2008 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where he averaged 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds and 22.6 minutes in three games and at the 2008 Rocky Mountain Revue where he played four games and averaged 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds.
No stranger to the NBA D-League, Tolliver appeared in 25 games, 11 starts, for the Iowa Energy during the 2007-08 season, averaging 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in 27.4 minutes while shooting 51 percent from the field. Prior to the 2007-08 season, Tolliver appeared in three preseason games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he averaged 2.0 points in 6.7 minutes before being waived by Cleveland on Oct. 31, 2007.
A four-year contributor at Creighton University, Tolliver averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 124 career games. As a senior, he averaged 13.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 blocks in 33 games en route to being named First-Team All-MVC, to the MCV All-Tournament Team, earning the Senior CLASS Award All-American honors and a nod as a Second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Mahinmi appeared in one game during his assignment in Austin, scoring 4 points in 21 minutes. He was originally assigned on Nov. 14 to rehab an ankle injury.
Oh .
The Boulder is gone and he is coming.
Hold on boys and girls. This will be one heck of a ride....
It's being discussed in the Mahinmi thread:
http://spurstalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2
Basically, the Spurs can only have two players in Austin at a time and with Mahinmi injured, they had to call him up to give Tolliver playing time in Austin. It's doubtful Mahinmi is being "called up" for any other reason other than to rehab on his left ankle, which he injured while trying to rehab his right ankle![]()
Yinka's dead![]()
Good thing Mahinmi only has two ankles.![]()
Yes, I know. However, Yinka Mahinmi lives.
I don't know why but ......
don't let us down. 'bout time to clog the middle
Mahinmi isn't going to be playing any time soon. He's just up for rehab work. Two bum ankles.
oh damn!!!!!!!!
Refresh my memory-- who were the people that kept on posting the Mahinmi/Savior pictures this past summer?
Sam Presti's overrated halo hangs over the team continually now.
I kept wondering why Tolliver never entered the game.
I wondered the same thing about Hill, but he wasn't in Austin. Did he get injured?
