Gameday: Spurs vs. Pistons
LINEUP AND ROSTER
Young Spurs big man Ian Mahinmi has rejoined the team in San Antonio after a two-week stint with the Austin Toros of the NBA Developmental League. Mahinmi played part of last season with the Spurs and most of the season with the Toros. His start to this season took a detour when was injured over the summer.
PREGAME
It seems like a long time since the Spurs and Detroit Pistons met in the 2005 NBA Finals. Several recognizable faces from that series are still with the teams as they meet tonight at the AT&T Center.
The Spurs still have the Big Three of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Duncan has started all 16 games this season for the Spurs and averages 20.8 points and 10 rebounds.
Manu Ginobili missed the first 12 games of the season after having ankle injury and Tony Parker missed nine games after suffering an ankle sprain in November. Parker is averaging a team-high 23.9 points and 6.1 assists. Ginobili is averaging 13.0 points in his four games back - a number that is sure to go up as he gets into shape.
The Spurs Roger Mason Jr. and rookie George Hill have yet to wear a Silver and Black uniform in the playoffs. Mason, who signed with the Spurs as a free agent, is averaging 14.8 points and 2.8 assists and has started 12 games. Hill averages 11.1 points and 3.3 assists and has started six games.
Old standbies for the Pistons include Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince, who combine for 30.9 points per game.
This will be the first time Allen Iverson has played in San Antonio since being traded to the Pistons. He has played 15 games for Detroit and averages 17.6 points and 5.3 assists.
Another familiar face at the AT&T Center tonight is Pistons assistant coach Dave Cowens, a former Spurs assistant under Bob Hill. Cowens was visiting with several members of the Spurs game-day staff and members of the media before the game. When he was here, we used to enjoy his stories from when he played on some of the legendary Boston Celtics teams.

Rasheed is the best Duncan-defender I've ever seen, so I don't see Tim having a big game..it'll be up to the others to step up tonight, but more importantly, our defense needs to get better..we've had no defensive chemistry yet with TP and Manu in the lineup..
I don't like how we're matching up with Prince..
Pistons call on LP.
Rasheed does give Duncan fits. One of the best on him.
Spurs 101
Pistons 86
yahoo.com has Bonner starting?
duncan228, who did you get on LP for the call last game vs. HOU? I watched the game online and got the HOU feed, but went back to my home in DC and recorded the SA feed....i thought i saw on ST people saying it was the HOU feed, which made sense to me since the LP broadband had that call
Yeah I can't even get the online feed on LP broadband. It has "technical difficulties". Looks like I'm stuck with these Piston guys
Not on LP Broadband.![]()
It's working for you? WTF
interesting, perhaps broadband is always the opposite of the tv call, kind of fair i guess...rather have tv though
matt bonner is he starter?
Pistons LP working. Do the Spurs LP ever work?
I hope Rasheed doesn't kill Matt on the block
We are gonna get crushed...
I'm looking forward to seeing Afflalo guard Manu at some point tonight. Should be a fun matchup.
Parker's in for a bigggggg night.
Bonner starting alrightLets do it.
I hate Bonners release on his shot.
I hate when Tim takes contested jumpers..he gives a pump fake and the defender doesn't bite, but he still takes the shot..
our defense still looks horrible..
Manu isn't fast enough to guard Rip
I had Spurs call for the Rockets game.
