I like your thought process, but I think the Spurs should put out feelers on what they can get for Bonner+Vaughn first.
Spurs trade Udoka, Vaughn, Thomas, the rights to Tiago Splitter, and their 2010 first round pick
to the Knicks for David Lee, Jared Jeffries, and their '09 first round pick.
Reason why each team might like the deal:
Knicks. 1. They unload Jeffries' salary, which extends to 2010, giving them more cap room to sign LeBron-- which seems to be their goal now, even more than winning.
2. The rights to Splitter and a 2010 draft pick coincide with their plan for a great Knick revival starting that year.
3. They get a cheap back-up small forward in Udoka with only one year left on his contract to replace Jeffries, and a cheap back-up point guard in Vaughn, also with only one year left on his contract. Also, defensive minded & well-liked Thomas returns to NY.
Spurs. 1. They get Lee, a young big who rebounds.
2. Jeffries is a decent and versatile but overpaid player who is 6'11" and can play SF, PF, and C. Not a great player by any means, but he plays D, and it's his salary that makes the deal work. A short Spur team gets taller.
3. The '09 draft pick of the Knicks will almost certainly be better than the '10 pick of the Spurs, and the Spurs need help sooner rather than later, while the Knicks are possibly willing to wait a year before committing to any new salaries.
This trade wouldn't be available until Dec. 15th because of the trade restriction attached to the Kurt Thomas signing.
All players included in the proposal are necessary to make the numbers match.

i'd pass, but thanks for offering.
For the salaries to match in a deal including Bonner, the Spurs would have to include another 1 mil+... someone like Mahinmi or Hill, which I don't think would be a good idea.
Why not trade Tim and 1st rounder for Lebron and Mo williams?
Let's trade Tim+Tony+Manu for Maggette
And Pop for a KFC franchise, if you're fed up with Taco Bell.
now that's something to think about.
i'd totally do it, if i were the clippers.
where do the fans, as spurstalk, have to sign to get this done?
i think this is something everyone would agree on.
forget even mentioning it to POP and RC; let's just do it ourselves.

Oooh... dark sarcasm from a wedding photographer-- how devastatingly cute!
im just saying..
you proposed the trade to spurstalk.
why do we need POP and RC when half the people who propose trades act as if spurstalk make the decisions?
Jared Jefferies?? Thats some silly right there...rofl
Yeah right, like they'd give up David Lee for that trash. He's probably their best player, and he's a team player. Isaiah isn't running the show anymore, man.
They just gave up Crawford and Randolph to make room for 2010, didn't they? How's this any different?
Because like I said, Lee is their best player and youthful. Someone LeBron would be interested in playing with, possibly. They can't just clear all of their team out. They can't gut their entire team and say hey, we have a lot of cap space and we're a huge market! Come and play for us! No. That is incredibly stupid to think.
david lee has one good performance, now his overrated.... this
and that package aint worth splitters rights
You're probably right.
Splitter is a lot better than Lee is. ROFL
dude ur telling me we are getting 2 scrubs in return for splitters rights who is a already developed C/PF with offensive game and avg defense to 2 guys who have no offensive game besides scoring from 2nd chance points....and JJ had his opportunity to become a spur when we chase him, now his not even worth the contract he signed.
Any way to get David Lee is a good way. Especially if you give up trash like Vaughn, Udoka, Thomas, and Bonner.
Second chance points are exactly what we need. We don't need any more playmakers, we have all the playmakers we need. We severely lack second chance points, offensive rebounds... and rebounding in general, really.
And really, if you're calling Lee a scrub, you really don't know very much about the NBA, at all.
trade for these 2 guys and there goes the 2010 plan
lee hasnt been extended yet, and JJ? his got another 2-3 seasons left on his MLE contract.
It wouldn't be fair to the other teams in our division if we didn't trade Splitter's rights to either NO, Dallas or Memphis.
OK-- explain the Pau Gasol trade.
Lebron will stay in Cleveland.
