I do the paper towel thing occasionally... Generally at a bar or something when most people are drunk and dont bother washing their hands.
I know I can't be the only one that after washing hands in the public restroom grabs a fist full of paper towels to dry hands with before turning the water off and opening the door with them.
I also have a big ass bottle of anti-bacterial stuff in the car.
If I could, I would kick my own ass for being such a wuss.

It's probably a good thing to be. My dad picked up MRSA somewhere and it really ed him up for a while.
There is nasty stuff out there.
During the month of november i was kinda a germophobe, I was sick through out the entire month. But now I have gotten over it.
I'm not a germaphobe (I have 3 kids after all) but I am very easily grossed out by public facilities. If I am forced to use a public restroom I rarely wash my hands and just use the antibacterial wipes I keep with me. Always use paper towels for faucets and door handles though. I also keep a can of Lysol in my gym bag in case I need to shower at the gym after a workout. And I have one more reason to love HEB now that they provide wipes for cleaning off shopping cart handles.
I think the clinical term is mysophobia. My wife is a mysophobe.
If you aren't a germaphobe, then I don't know what the criteria is......
uh, I think I've heard the term before, but what exactly is MRSA?
Kids hardly got sick when we were little and we played in the dirt and drank from the hose. So, no, I am not a germophobe and I own NO anti-bacterial lotion, wipes, gel, or hand sanitizer. There is concern with their overuse.
What I know is it's a flesh eating bacteria that's immune to antibiotics. America abuses antibiotics so much that MRSA evolved into a super bacteria that is really hard to get rid of.
And for people who use hand sanitizers, its better to wash your hands than use them because the more you use hand sanitizers, the more bacteria will be immune to them.
this is true.
our bodies need germs in order to fight off disease and all.
antibacterial stuff. I'll really only care about it before I eat and thats it. Too many people go way too ing far.
I kinda get turned off with the germs inside the public restrooms that is abandoned by some maintenance people. I would never ever pee there. I'd rather pee on the wall or light post somewhere.![]()
Truck drivers can be some nasty ers, so I'm kind of obsessed with wiping down every surface I have to touch (steering wheel, gearshift, brake release knobs, etc.) with anti bacterial wipes. One of my coworkers saw me doing it and asked me why. I showed him the nasty black that came off of the steering wheel after one wipe and now he wipes everything down too.![]()
How many bacteria do you have in your digestive system?
none. I drink 3 glass of bleach everyday. have you ever seen fresh, white poop?
no...it's not a flesh eating bacteria. MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is just a staph bug that is resistant to our traditional antibiotics. also those hand sanitizers are basically the same as pouring alcohol on your hands. most of them don't contain antibiotics so it's not like you are creating a more antibiotic resistant bacteria if they are overused. but your point about people washing their hands is spot on. washing your hands with soap and water is a much better way to clean yourself and kill germs.
btw...i have had a MRSA infection on the back of my leg before and man that thing grew FAST. i thought it was just an ingrown hair when i woke up in the morning and by about midnight i realized i needed to go to the emergency room. i thought it was a spider bite but it was MRSA. he had to numb me up and stab open the back of my leg to clean it out. don't around with that stuff even if you don't have insurance. it's not worth losing a leg or arm or your life. if you get an infection that develops quickly and you start getting nausea and chills then get your ass into the emergency room if you can't see another doc.
here is a link to a story talking about new therapies for treating bad MRSA infections with maggots. http://www.livescience.com/health/08...t-therapy.html pretty cool stuff...these guys are by far the best way to go if you have any kind of stubborn infection.
the irony that a person who is trying to be more sanitary actually is doing something less sanitary by never washing their hands![]()
yes, but they call it "ice cream" at McDonalds
I didn't say I never wash my hands!!! I said when I use a public restroom I opt to use my own antibacterial wipes instead!! Sheesh! LOL
Where have I heard this story before?![]()
That was his point-- that you think the wipes are better than washing your hands when they probably are not. If you want, carry some soap with you.
But see that's the thing, I don't think it's better and I didn't say that. I said I am grossed out by public facilities, so instead of using public sinks, I use my own wipes. Which is better than not using anything. At my own home we use nothing but soap and water.
I gotta ask different peeps from all over
true, the instant hand sanitizers usually contain a ton of alcohol which is also why it dries up fast.
the irony is when someone says "I'm not gonna use a hand sanitizer because I don't want to overdo the antibiotics and become immune" and then go and wash their hands with anti bac soap that contains tryclotan (sp?).
