Dirk has JHo syndrome. He's lucky his teammates have stepped up in the 4th quarter for him. He needs to find a move before always waiting for the double team and passing out.
That's my only critique.
Our beloved Mavs defeated a young, good Hawks team 100-98. The bench and starters played well. George hit a few nice 3's and had a few nice defensive sequences. Barea was great. Dirk was Dirk. Terry continued to play well, although not as sharp shooting. Bass/Williams made some plays, Damp/Diop were good on the glass etc.
The Mavs had a 19 point lead in the 4th and let it get down to 2 and Hawks had possession, but I don't think it's that big a deal. For one, the Mavs probably let down their focus a little, made a few somewhat fluky mistakes (turnover on inbounds, Diop not securing a rebound off missed FT) and the Hawks just got hot from behind the arc, making their last 5 3-PT shots. It happens, they're a good 3-PT shooting team.
I still wanna see this team get 2-3 possessions better per game. I don't pay as much attention to other teams, but the Mavs seem to have an inordinate amount of wasted possessions that resulted in hurried shots with the shot clock running down.
The Mavs are 9-1 in their last 10 now. This is the best 10 game stretch since the Kidd trade. Whether it's variance or a sign of things coming together, we will have to wait and see.
Keep this momentum going boys, gotta beat San Antonio on Tuesday night. A win in the division is essentially 2 wins, and a loss is 2 losses as well.

Somebody tell me why Diop play more minutes than Damp?
Damp 7 points 11 rebs in 19 min
Diop 0 points 4 rebs 6 fouls in 20 min
After Damp was pulled in the 3rd quarter he never saw the floor again?
19 games into the season i still have no idea why Diop is playing as many minutes as Damp. Or just below. Damp is playing like ERIK Dampier this season.
That sure was a nice way to end the game by letting the Hawks drill three 3-balls in a row and turning the ball over twice in the final 1:30 after they pretty much had salted the game away.
For those who didn't see it, Dallas was up 94-84 with 1:30 to play, and they let the Hawks get as close as 96-95 with 23 seconds left.
And they were up by 17 just a few minutes before that. The Forty Minute Mavs struck again, thankfully they built a big enough lead to withstand it. This win isn't the least bit encouraging. If they're only up by 10 in the 4th quarter, they lose this game. Dirk was a big pussy again in the fourth quarter.
I'm sure they'll look better than ever vs. the Spurs. That's the thing I hate about the Mavs, they always look so ty and then when the Spurs come to play, all of the sudden they find a rhythm and their shots start falling consistently.
If they could always play the Spurs I am sure they would look like world beaters. It's a combination of things, such as knowing the Spurs well because they were assembled to beat them, that seems to always have the Mavs ready to play against them.
