and was a -2 versus the Warriors. Fortunately, the Spurs were able to gut this one out and eek out a W. Why don't they just trade Jacque for Rafer Alston or something?

The Spurs front office would never be able to pull off a trade like this, because they're the worst front office in the history of basketball. They always seem to screw up, letting go of future Hall of Famers Luis Scola, Beno Udrih, and James White!. Also, they could have had Stephen Jackson back, but he got offended when they only offered him a can of Pringles and a decoder ring from a Cracker Jack box.

He is a good mentor for George, though. He gives him the game experience he needs by sucking his way out of the rotation.

Yup. Vaughn would be great as a mentor; his basketball IQ is pretty good. He's just not good at shooting. Like, whatsoever. At least when George is benched for giving a half-assed effort, Vaughn can go in to jump all over the place, and show Hill what he needs to do to keep his minutes.

guys, i know we're deep at the backcourt, but is it possible we can land Marbury? We have Parker, Ginobili, Hill, Mason, and Finley but it's still not good enough.

Let's trade: Vaughn, Bonner, Oberto, Udoka, and Thomas for Marbury.

is it possible if we can also land Petro, JR Smith, Stephen Jackson, Chris Kaman, or Udonis Haslem for any of our guys?

    Im pretty sure it's possible.

    December 1.
Mike Monroe: Read my lips: No Marbury

What happens in The Big Apple stays in The Big Apple for, oh, about two-and-a-half seconds. So, when someone who allegedly had knowledge of the negotiations between the Knicks and Stephon Marbury told a reporter from CBS SportsLine that the Spurs are among several teams "lining up" to make an offer to Marbury when, and if, the Knicks buy out his contract, phones in San Antonio began to ring and email boxes started filling up.
We've written it before, and we're writing it again, and we hope this is the last time we have to knock down this bit of lunacy. Take this to the back as informed speculation: The Spurs have no interest -- zero, nada, zippo, zilch -- in signing Stephon Marbury. Not for any amount, including the pro-rated veteran minimum salary.
