There is rumors that Gustavo Barrera will join Euroleague club Maccabi Tel Aviv. Story is Houston Rockets is interest in bring him as future point guard of team and they want to see how he play in top level league first instead league he has been play in. So he has been asked to tryout with Maccabi. It seem Maccabi has look at him and is consider they might take him.

Rockets will then see how he plays in Euroleague and then might select him as their new point guard. Rockets would like him in Maccabi because it is Euroleague team and is playing time available and will be cheap for them to watch him there as they already follows Eliyahu there now.

Barrera is 23 and is 6-6 player and can play 1,2 or 3 positions.

another clarification... Gustavo "Panchi" Barrera is Uruguayan. and he played with the Rockets on their summer league appearances... got little playing time but did well, when on the court he was very effective... He also is a key component of the Uruguayan National Team... he actually is 6'5 and mainly plays as a PG... developing in Europe would be good for him... he also played in the Spanish National Team Under 20 but friendly matches only... they weren't official that's why he was able to join the Uruguayan NT later on...

    he is 1.94...

    also...

there are 2 better guards than him on UY's NT... i don;t know why they find him THAT intriguing...

Garcia Morales would lay his ass down on any court at any time...

    1.94 m is 6-4 not 6-5. Maccabi claim he is 1.98 m that is where I get height from but 1.94 m is 6-4 not 6-5.

I loved this guy on our summer league team a true PG who can pass the ball and sees the floor very well.

It would be intersting to have him on the team in a year or so.....or VSpan could come back..either is good for me.

He is not coming. Rockets have no roster space and are actually in need of a big man to back Yao up.

Rockets Roster is full. I would like to see the Rockets do a two for one trade to bring in a big man and sign Deke. It'll be after Jan though. Les doesn't want to go over the luxury tax.

Alternately, could send Dorsey to the NBDL like the Spurs did with their young players and bring in a big man.

Why does Rockets not get rid of Head? He is not good player.

Dorsey would still be on the Rockets' roster if they sent him down to McAllen.

The Spurs actually waived their rights to Marcus Williams last season and Malik Hairston this season during training camp. As second round picks, the Toros were able to allocate them but they were available to any NBA team that wanted them.

the rockets have never been satisfied with their PGs, so that they keep trying hundreds of different PGs but none of them works. Alston is a pretty bad PG compared to other teams' starting PGs but he may the the best one the rockets have ever tried. rockets team is just like a well-assembled toyota car but it can not run, because the engineers have replaced its origin engine with a 30's engine which uses 19 gallon petrol per mile.
