    u can haz reeding comprehension!

The Union-Tribune spoke with Steve Diamond, a retired naval aviator who said he found the pilot in a tree behind a house. He told the paper he helped the man, who Diamond said was a lieutenant in his 20s, down from the tree.

The pilot told him that after he lost power in one engine, it was decided he would try to get the jet to Miramar on the single working engine, Diamond told the paper.

The pilot was in communication with military air traffic controllers before the jet crashed about two miles from the airfield, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the pilot ejected moments before the crash and landed in a tree. Jason Widmer said he talked to the pilot, who said he had tried to steer the jet from the homes and into a brushy canyon.

"He was pretty shook up and pretty concerned if he had killed anyone," Widmer told San Diego 6.
"He had seen his bird go into a house."

The guy tried and waited until the last possible second. Even if he had remained with the aircraft, it very likely would have hit a house in that subdivision. He might have hit a different house, killed people, and died uselessly.

I think you are being a tad harsh on someone who had to make a split-second decision.

But, for an example of cowardly Marines, I give you:

I have seen some ty things said by political hacks, but this takes the cake by far.

If you have never been in the military, you are a chickenhawk piece of filth for even suggesting this.

Either way, I would rather trust my life in combat to an 76 year old John Murtha to a lying, hypocritical waste of human flesh like yourself.

give us an example of his cowardice.
You must have missed his encounter with the Code Pink group in the halls of Congress.

Plus, calling for deployment to Okinawa ( ) could qualify as either stupid or cowardly or both.

Not to mention his calling the Haditha Marines "cold-blooded killers" before any of the evidence had been heard or was even known to him -- other than what he spoon-fed by anti-war zealots.

    He's a .

So I guess according to Yoni '5 deferrment' Cheney is not a coward. He had the balls to send others to fight his fight yet Murtha is a coward for disagreeing with the chickenhawks?

Yoni you are getting progressively more shrill with each post

I can't comment on Murtha's courage or lack thereof, but I can say with 100% confidence that Murtha is a giant d-bag.

Preliminary reports are saying that military traffic controllers were trying to get him back to the base instead of ditching at sea…Just moments before impact the jet nose dived…The pilot ejected while the jet was in the nose dive….It is a tragic situation for all…

And you can off as well.

Unless you have proof of a story where a Marine abandoned his fellow comrades-in-arms, or you were his NCOIC, I don't see how you can get off calling a Marine cowardly.
