The Washington Wizards, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Hornets have agreed to a three-team trade that will bring two new guards to the Gilbert Arenas-less Wizards, according to NBA front-office sources.
The Wizards will receive New Orleans' Mike James and Memphis' Javaris Crittenton in the exchange, with the Hornets acquiring Washington's Antonio Daniels and the Grizzlies coming away with a future first-round pick.
Arenas has yet to play for the Wizards since signing a new $111 million contract in the offseason after undergoing surgery on his left knee. A firm timetable for Arenas' comeback has not been established, but he has yet to be cleared to participate in contact drills, making a return by Jan. 1 -- as Arenas initially hoped -- seem unlikely.
The Washington Post reported Wednesday morning that the pick is a conditional first-rounder that Memphis had sent to Washington in the trade to acquire Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro in the 2007 offseason. Navarro returned to club power FC Barcelona in his native country this season.
The Wizards have to release guard Dee Brown to make roster room for their new players.
According to the Post, Daniels was at Wizards practice but was pulled off the floor once the deal proceeded to the conference-call stage required for league approval.
The Grizzlies had been expected to part with at least one point guard this season after stockpiling several. Crittenton, taken 19th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2007 draft, arrived in Memphis in February as part of the Pau Gasol deal.
James had fallen out of favor in New Orleans under coach Byron Scott and hadn't played in nine of the Hornets' past 10 games. Daniels, who has been a fixture on Washington's playoff teams over the past three seasons, is averaging 5.1 points, 3.6 assists and 22.4 minutes in 13 games.

Just sit back and relax and watch Crittenton blossom into an All-Star the coming years in D.C.
Damn, that was a nice move by the Hornets. AD has been a Spurs killer in recent years and the Hornets had nothing at backup point guard.
The Grizzlies just stole a first round pick!
Antonio is now closer to his beloved Jim's!
According to some people in D.C., Antonio Daniels just clangs jumpers now and hardly plays any D, and that he seems to be on his last leg. So we'll just have to see, I'd still take George Hill over A.D. any day.
Looks like offense will be the Wizards focus now.
Currently adding Crittenton on my watch list.
Sorry!
Now, Timvp
I agree with this post of yours. LOL!!
AD is an excellent pick-up at the back-up point guard for the Hornets. He will give Chris Paul some extra minutes on the bench to rest.
Not really, since it's the conditional first round pick they had sent to Washington for JC Navarro anyway. They basically just got their own draft pick back after wasting it on a guy that never played for them.
Javaris Crittenton is really talented hope he shines
I keep hearing how talented Crittenton is but until now he hasn't produced much.
As for Daniels, I still thought he was decent with the Wizards. I would hate to see the Hornets get another Pargo-type of player. He did a lot of good things for them last year. Right now the Hornets have no depth at all and that is how I want them to stay!
Good pickup by the Hornets. This should keep them in the top 8 at least.
Whoo and actual backup PG with a pulse! Now CP3 doesn't have to play 40 minutes a night and I don't have to watch Devin Brown try to run the point for 8 to 10 minutes a night and scar me for life.
Also just illustrates how lame the Pau Gasol give away was. "We are really high on JC he's the reason we made this deal" and now they trade him away for basically nothing. you Chris Wallace. you.
honestly....Gasol... why did the Grizz GM have to create a monster in the west!
sons thank god we finally got rid of that piece of trash Mike James! who the would want that trash??? he doesn't come cheap either .... like 6 or 7 million.
Son it's cuz your leader is a piece of who sucks. Put Mike James in Beantown and Pauly & Garnett will whip his ass into shape. He's destined to fail if he's playing on that ninny team full of cuckolds.
This makes the Hornets better, but does nothing for Washington. Mike James is subtraction by addition.
LOL you again! you sissy cuckold!!!
sweetness! nice move for the hornets antonio daniels should really help, and mike james sucks ass good riddance
