Plus, calling for deployment to Okinawa () could qualify as either stupid or cowardly or both.
Not to mention his calling the Haditha Marines "cold-blooded killers" before any of the evidence had been heard or was even known to him -- other than what he spoon-fed by anti-war zealots.

You can be a Marine and an idiot. (Though it's rare.) You can be a Marine and a bag. (A little less rare.) But the rarest of all Marines would have to be a cowardly one. It takes courage just to sign on the dotted line, not even mentioning what they do once they're in the service.

its an overall sad story....poor immigrant lost all his family and doesn't feel the need to blame anyone, leaving it up to a "god".....i hope he finds the emotional strength to move forward in his life.......
as for the marine....anyone that chooses to serve does so knowing that they will one day have to make life or death decisions....so its too early to blame him for anything, he saved himself and thats what he meant to do....however, if it comes to light that his superiors tried to get him (more importantly his multi-million dollar vehicle) to base instead of just sending a faulty aircraft at sea (losing money and making the lt swim home) then they should serve time........money should never come before life.
leave murtha alone...if you do or don't agree w/his views, he earned the right to have those views by serving.....what about you?

i've lost 2 friends in iraq, and if i got called up (still irr, as if you know what that means) i would go in a heartbeat.....and if any of the injured soldiers i met while in had called his/her fellow soldiers a "cold-blooded murderer" i would respect their opinion, because they earned it.......murtha paid his time, so he's en led to his opinion
