Tony "Need to rest from pregame.." Parker...ok just joking...Tony " me so I can score" Parker...
Perhaps we should give a new nickname for Parker, Mr Fourth Quarter.
Tony "Need to rest from pregame.." Parker...ok just joking...Tony " me so I can score" Parker...
i'm just joking, man. nothing serious here.
no one could say he would score as much in the 4th, including me.
but i still think people are really quick to bury him. and it's not the same thing to notice that he sucked in the first three quarters, what he did greatly although the 7 assists, than to say bench him for the fourth
when you have stars in your team, and we have three of them, you know they can get hot at any moment and you go with them till the end, even if it ends with a loss. There's not so much case, minus injury or fatigue, where i want to see tim, tony or manu on the bench at the end of a game.
Well, against OKC, the Spurs just might be up by 20+ in the 4th...Pop would almost surely rest the starters then, especially with B2B road games against the Hornets and the Magic coming up.
OK. i forgot to mention in a close game of course.
Well maybe if you posters weren't so emotionally drunk you would learn that you lean on your best players even when they have not done great. Quit judging quarter by quarter and evaluate in chunks.
if Parker didn't have a crappy game for the most part, we wouldn't have needed a big 4th QTR
Yes, of course.![]()
Yep...you said it!!
It's amazing that Pop knows what he's doing(according to some of the ST posters)!!![]()
Hill still should have gotten all those minutes earlier when he was playing better than TP. TP was given one more chance in the 4th and he played a lot better.
The problem we had was when TP was playing awful and George wasn't TP was out on the court getting minutes.
Yep calling people out after the game is stupid.
He should have said that to us at that point in the game.
I based it on how Tony was playing at the time. Fact is he was playing awful. The game before TP was given a chance at the start of the fourth to redeem himself and Pop saw that he didn't have it so he benched him for the rest of the game. I think Pop did the same tonight. If TP didn't start the 4th quarter playing well I think he would have benched him again.
It is not like he is Finley or Bonner or Mason. He is part of our championship big 3. You ride those guys 99.99% of the time, good or bad.
Normally most of us wouldn't react that way as I'm sure most people want TP out there. Tony was coming off of a bad game where he was benched in the 4th quarter and I'd say some of us thought he was still drained from that 2OT game so I thought it might be better to get him off of the court at that point. Also, Hill was playing pretty good so it would have been good to give him more court time.
I am sure later in the season you will see Hill out there in these scenarios more often. But for right now Pop is teaching. He has put Hill in at the end of a tight game before. But now, he wants him to watch what it means to have a bad 3 quarters, then pull it together when it matters. Hill sees this and he learns how it is a privledge to earn a coaches trust.
tp played like manu does sometimes
and turns in on in the fourth and
people want tp on the bench instead of praising he basically helped get the w
unreal
Thats what happens when you play crappy for 3 quarters before doing awesome. If he'd had more than 1 point before the 4th, it would've been ok. Manu had his points even between the first 3 quarters and the last one, but Tony just plain sucked on O. At least he handed out a bunch of assists.
Ducks most of us are going off of his last game. He had a 2OT recently and had looked like crap since then.
Pop benched him last game in the 4th quarter. I thought he was still tired. If Tony had come off of 2-3 days rest I wouldn't have been calling for him to be benched earlier in the game.
Surely people here can see this? For me it was mainly fatigue related when calling for his benching. I just thought he was still tired and I thought that was the reason for his poor game up until that point.
Different cir stances mate.
I thought TP was still drained from the Dallas game. It is not a good idea riding players when they don't look like they have the energy and are playing poorly.
Now if Pop was trying to teach Hill what you're saying then that turned out to be a good lesson.
Maybe we should assume that TP and Pop and the rest of coaching staff know how to handle TP's minutes, and TP is conditioned enough to fight through fatigue and be a positive factor in a win.
The winning wall.

Duncan probably didn't even get the foul call om that play
He does he fair share of whining to the refs, and it does bother me, especially if it's not a dead ball and he doesn't get back on the other end.
But, in his defense, he does get hacked a lot with no call. It must get frustrating.
you already quoted T Park in your sig - that was a classic.
i saw so many games where manu was taking bad shots and TO prone and he saved our ass in the 4th. same thing with tim in games where he seemed so lost and still managed to get back in shape in the 4 th.
there's no way you put your stars players on the bench at the end of the game because they played bad if the game is still close. it's a confidence killer. if the player is obviously tired or injured, it's another thing.
Pretty happy with our overall performance. Could have been better, obviously. Glad TP showed up in the 4th.
