    Wow. Bush ducked quickly!

This is obviously a cry for freedom. He's so hated and I hate this policy so much. We've done damage in the international community. Now they crave their independence. I crave for this to be over. It's so difficult to say I once supported this man and it's harder to be an American today because of this.

Isn't that considered a huge insult in the Islamic world to get hit by a shoe? I remember when that Saddam statue was pulled down, everyone was beating it with their shoes.

He will spend the rest of his life in a holding cell. No one sane does that just for the sake of infamy.

Guantanamo Bay. Or at least someone in the administration calling him a terrorist.

Yeah, the reporter must really miss the good old days under Saddam. Now they are so oppressed under the imperialist american dogs.

I don't remember the name of the guy who threw shoes at Saddam but I did find a picture of him..

The journalist that did it was kidnapped and beaten a few weeks ago.

BAGHDAD, Nov 19 (Reuters) - An Iraqi TV journalist who was kidnapped last week in a busy Baghdad neighbourhood said he was released unharmed before dawn on Monday. Muntazer al-Zaidi, a correspondent for the independent al- Baghdadiya television station, said he spent more than two days blindfolded, barely eating and drinking, after armed men forced him into a car as he walked to work on Friday morning in the bustling Bab al-Sharji area of central Baghdad. "My release is a miracle. I couldn't believe I was still alive," Zaidi, 28, told Reuters by telephone. Zaidi said the kidnappers had beaten him until he lost consciousness. They used his necktie to blindfold him and bound his hands with his shoelaces. He never learned the iden y of the kidnappers, who questioned him closely about his work but did not demand a ransom. The captors later told Zaidi he would be released, throwing him on to a dark street, still blindfolded, around 3 a.m. (0000 GMT) on Monday. He was then picked up by his brother.

I dislike our current President but that would have been some funny ish if the President had caught both of the shoes and threw them back.

Only the small-minded consider this an embarrasment for the President. There hasn't been a president alive who hasn't had someone try, or succeed, in some stunt like this. He stood up there an continued the press conference. Even waived off his lead Secret Service agent who wanted to extract him. Someone in here says the reporter had balls... , this President has demonstrated his courage for 8 years.

Maybe this guy wants to tell his grandchildren that he threw a shoe at someone on Mt Rushmore.

True. Bush's inep ude in his handling of the invasion and occupation of Iraq is embarrassment enough.

It's a lot easier to have courage when you have a metal detector outside and the secret service all around you...
I'm surprised the journalist wasn't gunned down on sight...

Good point. If this is a small embarrasment for Bush then getting shot in the head must have been really embarrasing for Kennedy.

I think it's a lot harder when you think you're insulated and something like this happens. After all, who would go to the trouble of getting into the press conference (with ill intent) only to do something non-lethal?

I'm surprised the journalist wasn't gunned down on sight...
I'm not. And, frankly, I'd be surprised if President Bush doesn't ask the Iraqi police to be lenient.

He'd be stupid not to, so we shouldn't completely count that out.

Yeah, brave dude for staying after some attention threw shoes at him. , give the man a medal of honor.

Why do I get the feeling your responses would be the same had the reporter used a straw and gone rambo with spit balls?
