How many times has Timmy been given this honor?
12 times.
just kidding. i don't know.
duncan228 - have you ever met Him?
he should be top 5 in MVP love... Thanks to the NBA for giving props to whom actually deserves it though....
I'd have to double-check, but without looking I think this is his 19th.
About freaking time.
Timmy should have been Player of the week since at least 2 weeks ago.
Is that for Duncan or for Duncan228?
(Both seem worthy to me)
they are one and the same... don't you remember![]()
Last time TD was POTW :
04/08/07
Way to go TD!!!
He hasn't gotten it in a while, and honestly, he's had better weeks than this past one!
Heck yes.
At this point in Timmy's career, I think even he feels like he is probably a little under-appreciated by the League.
Not by the coaches and players and people who know better, but by the media and the Association itself.
Even as unassuming as Duncan is, it's gotta be nice to get a little kudos here and there.
He is truly the real Dominant player of the decade (assuming the mantle from Shaq who had it for several years) = such trivial awards mean little but nice to see him getting a little love.
Is this a joke ?
How can you give this award to Tim Duncan and not to Matt Bonner ?
Another proof that medias have a strong Tim Duncan bias.
Anyway, congrats to Duncan. The most amazing about him is his consistency games after games, weeks after weeks, years after years...
Spurs fans are truly blessed with him.![]()
Harrington, Duncan earn NBA weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Al Harrington of the New York Knicks and Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending December 14.
Harrington led the Eastern Conference in scoring with 33.3 points per game on 56.5 percent shooting. He also registered averages of 8.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals in three games. Harrington led the Knicks to a 121-109 win over New Jersey on December 10 with a season-high 39 points and 13 rebounds.
Acquired in a trade this season with the Golden State Warriors, Harrington tallied at least 28 points in each game last week, as the Knicks went 2-1 in that period.
Duncan averaged a double-double with 22.0 points and 12.5 boards, as the Spurs went 4-0 for the week. In a 133-126 double-overtime win over Dallas, Duncan recorded 32 points and 14 rebounds.
The 11-year veteran has helped the Spurs go 14-4 since starting the season 1-4, and San Antonio is currently riding a season-high six-game winning streak.
Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Cleveland's LeBron James and Mo Williams, Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki -- who won the award last week, Denver's Carmelo Anthony, Detroit's Richard Hamilton, the Los Angeles Clippers' Zach Randolph, Memphis' Rudy Gay and Orlando's Rashard Lewis.
Wow, Tim Duncan is still playing basketball?
Tim Duncan set a record, I think, when he was named rookie of the month every single month of his rookie year.
Amazing, since van Horn shot out of the gate.
Jeff McDonald: Duncan a POW, Ahearn a free agent
Two bits of news here from Spurs Land:
Tim Duncan (you might have heard of him) has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week. Duncan averaged 22 points and 12.5 rebounds in helping lead the Spurs to a 4-0 mark.
Duncan's best game of that span came in a 133-126 overtime victory at Dallas on Tuesday in which he tallied 32 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Spurs bid adieu to point guard Blake Ahearn, who was waived Sunday. Signed on Nov. 14, Ahearn appeared in three games for the Spurs before being assigned to their Developmental League squad in Austin.
The apex of Ahearn's brief career remains his H-O-R-S-E victory over Manu Ginobili.
