I'm no expert in X-Men but doesn't Gambit come into the picture much later than when Wolverine was created.

If you want a good laugh you should drop by the IMDB message board for this movie, or really any comic book movie for that matter. You'd swear that they were making biopics about their relatives with the way the shriek over every inaccuracy. Some guy was ting his pants over the fact that Weapon X and several characters in the film are Canadian in the comics and the film would make it seem that it's an American military program.
Amen to that. My biggest complaint about the first X-Men movie was how badly they squandered Sabretooth by turning him into little more than a cave man.

Many of you might not agree but I think Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is a great casting.
When thee announced the actor to play Gambit, people were up in arms because they'd didn't give him red eyes.
The rumored reason from Marvel, anyways, is because they did not want people to confuse Cyclops with Gambit.

Any time I see purists pissing and moaning about these things I always remember one of the best exchanges from the first X Men film.
"You actually go out in these things?"
"What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?"
Not everything translates well to the screen. Although I for one am still angry that Marvel caved to that prima donna Jackman's demand that the claws simply be artificially attached to his hands rather than being a real man and having metal grafted to his skeleton. What a pussy.
So this movie has little to no relation to the previous X-Men movies. As in this isn't a prequel of sorts.

Yeah, they already jacked up Nightcrawler's character and tried to mash Jubilee and Rogue into one character, so it shouldn't be any surprise that they screwed up the Gambit storyline, too.
