Only problem with your analysis is that the Lakers guards are gambling more on steal and playing closer to their man knowing that Bynum is behind them and covering for them...

....Only problem is that Bynum is slow as getting to the basket before the point guards get there.

They are getting burned bad by point guards and that won't change until:

1) Bynum is quicker and covers for the guards

or

2) The guards somehow miraculously get quicker...(not likely)

top 2 defense, the best player the world in Lebron who is playing at such a high level, good depth, good interior defense and now they have a PG who can spread the floor with his outside shooting in Mo Williams which is something they lacked last post season.

It is a bit startling that the Lakers are 21-3 despite playing with such laziness and complacency.

I suspect as the season goes on the D will significantly improve along with the mental focus and effort. This is a Phil Jackson coached team, they won't start peaking until post ASB. Fortunately the Celtics are already at their peak....unfortunately, that peak is good enough to win a ring.
