The NBA is a big man's game.
Another ing re ed statement. Look at all the premier teams over the past few decades. Who were the star players? Dr. J, Magic, Bird, Jordan, Zeke, Wade, Pierce. Then you got Duncan, Shaq, and Hakeem (who possibly wouldnt have won anything if Jordan hadn't retired). However, the guard/forward players have won 19 of those les. The big men have won 9.

God almighty some spurs fans are ing stupid.

Give Lebron some role players like Parker, Ginobili, and an HOF coach at his disposal. I guarantee he AT LEAST three-peats.
No, it's just Galileo. That guy says some of the most head-scratching comments I've read.

Kobe showed the world that he is the best player in the NBA. He showed it in the Olympics when all of the other great players in the league were doing a choke job.
    lol, 2008 finals

and no one was doing a choke job at all in the olympics. but kobe definitely choked in the finals.

Right now, I'd put Lebron at number 1 and Kobe at number 2.

Of course this can easily change..ask me again after the playoffs.

And some of you Spurs fans.....sigh.

    I disagree.

Lebron took one shot during the last eight minutes or so of the final game.
(edit: technically two..since he clanked the first layup, got the rebound and laid it in again)

CP was putting up ill-advised three pointers from the corner.

Howard was clanking free-throws (umm..technically not a choke since he's been doing that for a long time now)

Only players to pick it up were Wade, Bosh (on the defensive end) and Kobe.

Wade did his job in the first half (while everyone, including kobe was doing nothing) and Kobe won it for them in the fourth.

Kobe didn't choke in the finals he just went up against a team that took advantage of lakers not having their starting center.

boston were the better team due to taking advantage.

To say Lebron didn't pick it up is dumb, because he was playing the best defense out of anyone on the team. His defense and rebounding made a huge difference.

No one really choked at all. It was just Kobe doing his thing and taking all the shots. Fortunately he was hitting them that night. Unfortunately for him and the Lakers, he wasn't able to do that in the Finals. Kobe choked and let his team down, plain and simple.

    Lebron > Kobe

They didn't have their center virtually the entire season. At that point, injuries are not an excuse, especially since they pulled off that bull trade to bring Gasol over.

If you let your team blow a 20+ point lead, thats a choke job. Fact is, Jordan would never have let his team do that. Neither would Lebron. Why? Because 1. they are/were better leaders, and 2. because they wouldn't settle for dumb jumpshots the way Kobe did.

Obviously no one else is really up for disussion well maybe Wade.....

    who is the best?
This time last season I would've taken Kobe. But Lebron is flat-out making amazing feats look effortless this season. It's 1 and 1a as far as I'm concerned.

LeBron has been the best player in the game since '06-'07, and he's just widening the margin now. Tough call where to rank Kobe, Wade, and CP3 for the next three spots.

When has Kobe EVER been the best player?

He was the 2nd best player on those Laker teams, the 5 years after that was the "Tim Duncan era", and now it's Lebron James time.

It's not irrational to say that there has never been a point where Kobe has been the best player in the NBA.

I'm sure your educated opinion is one of stature and your b-ball a ent only ranks with the best.

However, you ask the players, GM's coaches all around world and Kobe comes up on top. It's not close at this time. Will it be...for sure no doubt Lebron will take over, it's called age. I love the opinions of fans, mine included, but they are swayed by our own bias. Is Lebron having a great season, no doubt MVP calibre.

Funny thing you look at the stats Lebron is averaging right now and compare it to Kobe's at the same age...very similar.

LeBron is definitely the better player this year. It looks like Kobe might finally be the second best player. If LeBron keeps this play up the entire year, no doubt in my mind he is the best.
Looks that way so far. But Im guessing Kobe is resting up for later on against a tougher post season schedule. Lebron has to play lights out and is alot younger. And once the season ends the east doesnt have many tough teams to play. If anything Kobe is making his team better. And Queen James is carrying his.
