And it becomes increasingly more difficult to remain one.

Plenty of blame to go around...Garrett .... TO.... Romo .... the run defense .... but i lay blame squarely on the shoulders of one Jerry Jones, the devil incarnate.

Good thing for Jerry he's the owner, else he might be the one getting an impromptu visit on a golf course to be informed that he's been removed as owner and gm. 20 years ago, Jones summarily dismissed Tom Landry as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in such a way in favor of his handpicked firebrand of a coach Jimmy Johnson.

Two decades later lets compare what Jones has accomplished compared to his predecessor regime. Granted, to his credit (or Johnson's) Jones can lay claim to three super bowls trophies. The Schramm-Landry regime? OVer 28 some odd years .. two super bowl wins, but a total of five appearances. Combined, the Cowboys lost three super bowls by a grand total of 11 points.

For nearly three decades, Landry was the "only coach the Cowboys ever had." Under Jones, I count six and soon to be seven. Under Landry et al, the Cowboys strung together a string of 20-pus winning seasons in a row.

So don't tell me that JOnes is all about winning. the record says otherwise. I'll give you that he spends money and that he likes to buy winners. But let's not confuse ego with desire to be the best. That is the difference between the old Cowboys and the Jones era Cowboys. Under Landry, the Cowboys were the class of the league. Under Jones, they are the spectacle of the league. And that the Cowboys were able to win three superbowls in the 90s is more a testament to Jimmy Johnson than to Jones. Let's not forget that both Michael Irvin was a draft pick of Landry's and Troy Aikman was the indisputable # one pick in 89, which the Cowboys were prepared to draft under Landry. And I suspect that, given time and opportunity (the opportunity give to Johnson), Landry would have molded his team as he did before into champions.

Now, it's been a dozen years or so that the Cowboys have gone without a playoff win or a even a winning record in December. As time passes, it's becoming increasingly difficult to make a defensible arguement that Jerry JOnes is a bout winning. Time is often the revealer of truthe, the records and the behavior over time are beginning to show that Jones is not so much a winner as he is an egocentric millionaire or billionaire bent on amassing as much wealth and fame as he possibly can. Super bowls for JOnes are merely gravy. And sadly, many of us have drunk the Jerry kool-aid. But after tonight's game, for me, the kool-aid has lost its flavor.

Jerry Jones has done an admirable job in marketing his team. But int he process it has become just that...his team ... not our team. I say let him have it and one day maybe he and Al Davis can exchange stories of how they each oversaw and contributed to the demise of two of the greatest NFL franchises of the 60s and 70s.

the run by McGahee is almost forgivable, but the next one by some no-name mofo on the very next play is completely inexcusuble. how do you get burned for 150+ yards on two f'ing plays in the 4th quarter?

Shut up, puss. Your team ain't always gonna win. There are fans out there whose team has never even been to a Super Bowl, much less won five. You'll probably be in here talking if they make the playoffs.

He didn't play well, but if the defense doesn't give up 150 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on back to back plays, they probably win the game.

How does 19 wins in 5 seasons sound? The Pats almost reached that in one season.

Captain Mike, the fact you have an OSU icon as your avatar speaks volumes.
Obstructed View, your name too says it all. YOur view must be obstructed by your head being up your ass.

All of you can kiss my ass. IF you haven't been a Cowboy fan all your life, you won't understand my point, which is that Jerry Jones is an asshole, like many of you.

He's not about winning. He's about feeding his own ego. He craves attention, not necessarily championships. He's trailer trash compared the class of what the Cowboys once were.

Saturday night just brought it all home as they shut down Texas Stadium.

So if you think Im a puss or that I'm being unrealistic, screw you. The Cowboys have been more than just another team, they've been a cultural phenomenon for the better part of four decades.

Oh, and if you admit to being a raider fan, then you are more pathetic than I could ever be.

The only way you've been a Cowboys fan longer than I have is if you're older than I am. Either way, you're completely stupid and an excellent example of what people hate about Cowboys fans. You must not know about the Cowboys' history if you're whining about Jerry Jones. Soon you'll be complaining about the players' lack of character or that the stadium is too expensive.

Jerry Jones has won one more super bowl than Clint Murchinson and Bum Bright combined. Your dumb ing bandwaggoning ass wasn't saying when they were winning 12 games every year and getting to the conference semifinals, and you damn sure weren't ing when they were running up 52 points on the Bills. I bet you were one of those people calling for Landry's head when he was winning 2 games every year at the end of his career.

    Dumb .

only took the raiders 30 yrs to get there

Well, lets just say I'm over 40, and for Captn Mike's sake "I'm a man!"

I have faint images in my mind of the first super bowl loss to Baltimor and clearer images of Staubach rallying the team from apparent sure defeat against the 49ers in the divisional playoffs, back when it was still an uncertainly of who would be the #1 qb, Staubach or Morton.

If you think I am the reason people hate Cowboy fans, so be it. I expect more, a uv alot more from my teams than what Jones has brought, because I think he's taken more than given.

And yes, I enjoyed the superbowls of the 90s, but it many ways it was like taking a dose of bad tasing medicine -- you know it's supposed to be good for you, but it still tastes bad. But no, I never called for Landry's head; just like I've never called for Popovich's head nor Mack Brown's head. I believe there is something to be said for loyalty and commitment aside from the wins and losses of a season or two. In fact, I think I was more of die hard through Landry's last years when Dallas struggled. Why? because for the better part of my life that team had given me so much to be proud of, to be hoepful for, to feel a part of.

Now, 've stomached Jones for two decades and I'm not sure I can stomach him anymore. And I don't care how much the new stadium costs. It's irrelevant. You remember when Landry ran Hollywood from the team? WOudl he have put up with T.O.? Would Schramm? I know I'm comparing two different eras and maybe it's not fair to Jones. But I don't care. I see a future for the Cowboys that looks very much like the Raiders'. Who can say that Al Davis doesn't want to win? problem is he doesn't know how. Jones won when he acquiesced his ego to the greater good and relenquished football responsibilities to smarter football minds. It's no coincidence the Cowboys won with Johnson and then not again until Parcells.

I don't know why my opinion on this is offensive to anyone. why some are so willing to follow Jones so blindly. why some can't see that he cares more about himself than the greater good of an organization or a league. In the end, he will be richer for having owned the Cowboys, but I'm not sure the Cowboys will be any "better."

Meh, most teams are full of rotten fans. The Cowboys just have the most that don't realize how ing douchy they sound after the team loses. During the 90s they used to leave at halftime if the Cowboys weren't scoring enough points.
