It will even out in the end. I still think the Lakets will likely be the #1 seed in the West but it will be a tight in the end for the top seed. I think it will be Boston or Cleveland with the top overall record.
I've been watching them closely over the past two weeks (as a San Diego resident, their games are force fed anyways) and i haven't seen them play one good game.
Kobe's the only one who really cares on that team. Gasol is fading and fading fast. Bynum no longer is putting in the effort as he has that big contract now. Odom is really stinking.
I don't see this team winning the west. IMO the Hornets are slowly but surely catching them and they are playing a lot better than before.
Spurs are a long shot, but atleast we are improving as we're going along. Lakers on the other hand look like they are hitting a brick wall. It's still December though.![]()

need to play with more intensity (mostly on the defensive end) thats basically the problem..im actually happy their next 2 games are vs contenders cuz they actually try verse those teams
That's the thing with them though. They'll blow out teams like Houston, Hornets, Suns & probably the Spurs too, but lose against the weaker teams. That will surely haunt them in the Playoffs.
One thing i don't see in this team is character, and Phil for some reason doesn't care any more. BTW Bynum is getting abused in every game after he signed that big contract. I was too fond of Shaq, but he atleast wasn't MIA on too many games.
Basically every Laker stat where they appear to do well is decieving.
haha they ing suck they only have the number 1 offense in the league..once they pick up the defensive intensity its over
The Lakers have no iden y right now.
Phil Jackson for whatever reason insists on starting Luke Walton. His reason for not starting Odom was because his jumpshot was poor yet he starts the player on the team with the worst jumpshot. Radmanovich has clearly outplayed him all season long and is now relegated to bench minutes. It's mind boggling what Phil and the coaching staff are doing.
If you watch the Lakers attempt to play defense they simply double team every guy that has the ball. They doubled Hakeem freaking Warrick two or three times which led to easy 3pt shots. Nobody on the team knows how to play solid team defense. Phil Jackson can't coach D, Kurt Rambis is possibly more clueless after his strong side zone got figured out, and neither Hamblen nor Cleamons have a clue.
If the Lakers want to win a ring they need to hire a defensive coordinator outside of Phil J. circle of friends. If Jeff Van Gundy could be persuaded he'd be perfect.
Saying the Lakers aren't as good as their record and saying they ing suck are two completely different things. A team can be very, very good and still not be as good as their record makes them appear.
The Lakers were getting a little too cushy. I think the Lakers are better than their 22-5.
After the Lakers whup the Hornets tonight, I'll remind you that "I told you so".
Lakers play crappy defense and rely on the three. I think the Lakers are worse than their 22-5.
After the Cavaliers whup the Lakers in the Finals (IF they get there), I'll remind you that "I told you so".
I think you're right about the crappy defense. It's been bad lately; however, I think their defense is showing signs of improvement.
The Cavs? The Cavs are not nearly as good as their record. After the Cavaliers whup the Lakers in the Finals (IF they get there), I'll remind you that "I told you so".
It will be Boston and the Lakers again and I suspect the results will be different this time. The only team in the East capable of beating the Celtics...the Hawks and maybe the Magic.
I think that will be answered on Christmas Day. If they lose, I agree. But when they win, "I told you so"I think the Lakers are worse than their 22-5.![]()
When the Mavs win tonight against Memphis, I'll remind everyone that "I told you so"
When the Mavs are up 8 with 12 seconds left and everyone's done trying, I don't expect Dirk to dunk the ball then look at the Grizzlies players like he's a hardass.
Besides wishful thinking, what the suggests the Lakers could beat the Celtics in a series?
First of all, don't overlook the Grizzlies. They are a threat to make the Playoffs this year in my opinion.
As for beating the Celtics in a series, they have no backup big men. That is why the Celtics will lose.
They got great preparation for the Celtics because of all those super hard back-to-backs![]()
As soft as Gasol and Bynum have been playing, they don't need any backup bigmen.
Lamar Odom is a worthless piece of , also. He actually makes me glad we have Smokey rather than him.
When they don't get within 15 games of the 8 seed, I'll remind you that "I told you so"
In a 1 gamer, you may be right. But in the course of a 7 game series, the lack of backup big men really shows.
As for Odom, he's #2 on the team in +/-. He makes the team go, but he's overlooked because he doesn't score 15 points.
You're on!
OJ Mayo is easily Rookie of the Year and he has the killer instinct. If they don't make the Playoffs this year, it will be next year at the latest.
Being upstaged by a rookie two guard will do that to you if you are considered the best player in the game by some.
And the Lakers do?
Excuse me if I don't think Mihm is an adequate replacement. Nor will the Lamar name drop work because he was owned by powe of all the people. The so labeled "Flopper" out muscled everyone on that frontline, starter or reserve.
Bynum starts, but he isn't that impressive right now. I see most of his offense comes from direct passes when he's two feet from the rim. He is foul prone against decent frontlines which i've noticed lately.
I just got that comment by dirk4mvp and you. The Grizz were still fouling, and on the previous play, they hit Kobe rather hard. On that last dunk, he was still being chased...so he said F this.
The better question is why were the Grizz still trying to foul Kobe hard?
I think Odom is the big difference. Last year, Odom was the full time Power Forward (no Bynum). Odom was constantly going up against Perkins and KG. Now he only has to deal with Powe primarily and I think Lamar's a much better player than Powe. And the Lakers do?

I also think Lamar is better than Perkins but Perk is too big for him to play against.
Lamar > Perkins
Lamar > Powe
Josh Powell > Big Baby
Chris Mihm > Scalabrine
mBenga > Patrick O'Bryant
I agree. LA's third best player is slightly better than Boston's seventh best player.
, if any of these matchups happen in the Finals, it's only going to be because Boston has a 25 point lead with 2 minutes left in the game. But hey, you won the benchwarmers matchup!
Are you seriously going to play the "foul" card? He's a vet, considered the best by most, man up pussy. Mayo was killing and they couldn't stop him. Gay was eating too, and Warrick was really frustrating Lamar. Not to mention Darko was all in Bynum and Pau so memphis was giving them a of a time so don't act like L.A didn't luck up. If Gay and Mayo hadn't sat for mass minutes they wouldn't have had that scoring drought when they got back in.
Do you honestly think Scal and Patty O are going to see the court much? Come on bro, get real. While Lamar is a better player than Powe, can he own Powe? I think not. Powe will still eat on the boards with Lamar in, nothing will change there because Lamar isn't a physical player in that regard. Powe doesn't do a bad job guarding him either. It's a bad matchup for Lamar in the physicality department.
And don't sit here and act like Boston won't add a vet big toward the end of the year, come on man stop trying to deny/jinx the situation, you know what's going on.
