And who is going to stop Pierce? Kobe?
Who is going to stop Ray Allen? Vujacic?![]()
I think it's going to be alot like the Magic game. Bynum and Pau got Dwight Howard into early foul trouble and he had to sit alot through the game.
The problem was DHo also got Bynum into foul trouble with his offense. Perkins isn't the offensive force that DHo is so I'm guessing either KG or Perk will be sitting on the bench quite a bit against Bynum/Pau.
We'll see alot of Powe vs Bynum/Pau or one of those other guys since Powe is only 6'8. After Perkins/KG the Celtics have no size, I think they're like 6'9 and below.
That's why they're trying to get Mutumbo, I hope somebody else snatches him up because that's the Lakers edge right there.
And who is going to stop Pierce? Kobe?
Who is going to stop Ray Allen? Vujacic?![]()
Add on the much improved play of Rondo. It looks like Perk is being under estimated as well. I look and Laker fans are still over estimating Bynum at this point in time. He is foul prone against decent Bigs while getting the majority of his buckets on direct looks for "oops", or lay ups. That soft as footwork gets exposed because dude is predictable, he isn't polished enough to where his predictability doesn't matter.
Trevor "Stealth" Ariza will stop Paul Pierce
Kobe "Bean" Bryant will stop Ray Allen
Raaaajon Rondo doesn't scare me. The Lakers will make him into a jumpshooter. Bombs away Raaaajon.
And are you guys saying the Lakers will lose to the Celtics on Christmas?![]()
LeBron will stop Pierce.
Sasha Pavlovic will stop Shuttlesworth.![]()
Are you watching the same basketball that I am? That will be an awesome coaching move having your best player run around chasing Ray Allen for forty plus. Additionally, running through screens will open you up to fouls, plus you have to deal with head fakes while recovering. Not. Smart.
And Trevor? Please.
Nor will Walton have any luck on pierce in a series; seeing as how he's getting alot of minutes now. If he can't guard Gay, he can't guard Pierce.
That's a far more plausible theory than the one Allanon posted![]()
Luke will probably get killed by Paul Pierce. But I think Ariza can do a great job on Pierce. Ariza is in my opinion, one of the best defenders in the NBA and he's a bit longer and quicker than Pierce too. You'll rarely see the guy Ariza is guarding have a great night.
Kobe has traditionally guarded Ray Allen and Ray's not as springy as he used to be.
However, I wouldn't be surprised to see some Fisher on Ray and Kobe on Rondo.
I don't know what you think great means, but he will have spot minutes on him anyways. It won't take Paul long to figure him out if there is a period of such. He isn't a lock down guy. Although, he does play good defense.
I think Ariza can keep Paul Pierce to 15 points a night with no Great games like he had last year. Paul Pierce killed the Lakers last year and they had nobody to guard him. Pierce was unstoppable in the Finals. Odom vs Pierce would have been ideal last year but the Lakers had no quality Power Forward so Odom couldn't spend time at SF.
This year with Bynum, Powell and Mihm, the Lakers can afford to use Odom on Pierce to give him a different look as well.
The Lakers can throw Ariza/Odom/Luke/Radmanovic at him. Much better in my opinion.
except during critical moments in the Finals
Luke and Rad should never guard him; the only way they will be successful is if he settles for a bad jumpshot.
15 points a game? You are vastly over estimating the capability of some players. Paul Pierce is one of the best players at getting to the line and Lamar definetly will not stop that. Trevor may provide a hiccup but he will not lock him down CONSISTENTLY like you would like to believe.
They will not be able to continually funnel Pierce to the baseline. When it does happen, the Celtics can stretch the floor. Plus they have players that can finish inside.
This is why Laker fans were crying to have Ariza back healthy. Without Ariza/Bynum... Kobe had to "guard" Pierce.
And what makes you think they're both locks to be healthy for the Finals when neither has proven capable of staying healthy for an entire season yet?
We shall see in 2 days, no need to "debate" it right now.
So dear Laker doubters, the Question is, will the Lakers lose to the Celtics in 2 days?
Well that is certainly a good question. I try not to think about injuries until they happen.
They've lost to both teams in FLA, and barely got out of Memphis with a win. The Celtics are much better than the Lakers, the game won't be that close.
Boston 109
Lakers 95
1 game does not a series make.
Your cohorts have already thrown down the guantlet. Don't be "soft like Bynum" and give me a damn prediction for the Christmas day game already![]()
Cohorts?I'm not sure i'll go that far.
But a prediction, that I can do.
Boston by three points. Watch out for Jesus.
You guys have nutted up, I can respect that.
And I won't hold you guys to the spread, win or lose, we'll find out.
Maybe then I can get some stroking around here![]()
Why is Luke Walton even in the League, surely there are D-Leaguers better than that guy and honestly what team not running the triangle offense could he even make as an inactive reserve?
