Kori has a TV on her wish list. I was going to go buy it today since I like to get my Christmas shopping done early but she told me she doesn't need it by Christmas. Yeah, she's cool like dat.
Anyways, it's for the bedroom. Something slick, good value and about 42" would be preferable. Last time I was in the market someone on the forum (I think it was scottt) recommended an awesome TV. Any recommendations this time around?
Thanks.

almost all of my friends have samsung LCDs. i think you can get a 42" 1080p one for under 1k at big box stores.
Really though, the only recommendation I have is Westinghouse. I've got a 34" LCD which was really reasonably priced and I love the quality on it. It gets comments from people fairly regularly, even those who already have an LCD they probably paid more money for.
I have a westinghouse 47" and 32"... absolutely love them both. Probably the best of the "cheaper" tv's out there... I think you can find the 42" for ~$800ish.
Westinghouse has pretty good rep, but it might be worth your time to check out this site before buying. http://www.hdguru.com/
A lot of the cheaper 1080p TV's are of really low-quality. At the same time, some of the cheaper (sub $1,000) sets are near as good as a top of the line $3000 Samsung. So, I'd be as informed as possible before buying.
Can't go wrong with Sony. I've always had sony tv's and they've always been top notch and worked fantastic.
Samsung LCD's are great right now. The TOC (touch of color) series is really good. Great viewing angles and at a good price right now. The LN52A650 is one of the best looking TV's I've ever seen. Its a little bigger and more pricey but they do offer a 42 in version.
...................for the price, this jewel cant be topped.

I'd go with the Sharp Aquos or a Samsung. Circuit City is going out of business soon and will have some crazy sale prices the day after Christmas.
I currently have a 46' Samsung LCD that has been fantastic.
It cost around 1,600+ when I got it but it's probably down a couple hundred since then.
How much are you wanting to spend? Do you prefer LCD or Plasma or DLP? Are you looking for a flat screen? I know quite a bit about TV's and know where some good deals are.
I was all set to get a SOny 46" LCD, but then came across this one:
Panasonic Plasma
Edit: The link isn't working but if you go to the Costco website and look under Televisions>Plasma>1080P you'll find two Panasonics. The one I purchased was the less expensive of the two. It occasionally goes on sale - I wound up paying $1299 for it.
I absolutely love it. It's about the same width overall as a 46" Sony but you get about 18% more screen real estate. Check out the reviews it got - most people are very happy. It looks like Panasonic makes a 42" model in that line, but that's as small as they go.

I just recently purchased a 46" Samsung HD LCD 1080p. The TV is great and the quality of the picture is incredible.
but for reels, just go to walmart and choose one, you really can't go wrong with a tv just for the bed room.
If you was building a home theater room then that's a whole other topic.
Day-after-XMass sales have some great prices:

I bought my 50 inch Panasonic plasma at Sears for 900.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Which one do you think is a better deal?
