I just saw Mr. Hill at Best Buy
He was on his phone standing next to me talking, so I just gave him a "whats up" nod. Did not want to bother the guy.
two points is two points and i agree that dunks are overrated, but the ability to play above the rim is an undeniable plus. Throwing in high scooping layups like TP and manu do is a lot harder (and underappreciated) than getting up there and making sure it goes in, but the dunk is the stronger play. how many times have you yourself gotten pissed with rasho, nazr, oberto, thomas complete inability to catch and dunk? they'd almost always lay it up and in the playoffs a swatted layup is like a double turnover. not to mention dunkers are less likely to be screwed with a non-call. if you're in the circle and going hard at the basket, its almost guaranteed FT and a foul for the other team's frontcourt..
the same with blocks. If you cant get up and play in that area of the court, but are very skilled on the rest, you can beat a team whose biggest strength is athleticism. but if you are playing an evenly matched team, that has the ability while you don't... it can totally burn you. its one thing to not be the fastest, and another to not be able to reach part of where the action is.
so hurray for hill, i want to see more of that. just be careful where you land!
You were watching the Wolves broadcast?
which best buy was it?
1604 and Gold Canyon
Dunk is a good thing..it excites fans, flame your teammates and got better chance to go in than middle jumper, all opponent can do is foul him and NBA dunk is a definite two points unlike jumpers. In the early days, fresh leg Duncan dunks alot with authority with nobody can stop him. Nowadays he is quite unstopabble as well, but sometimes when he got a bad day shooting maybe he should think about dunking that ball just to make sure, I know it must be harder than its sound. I rarely see him dunk nowadays but that is understandable beacuse even Shaq dunk less than he used to..its a win that counts. Good thing we got fresh new legs with Hill,Mason and probably Bonner dunking once in a while.
For the crazy stat buffs, who is top 5 in dunks? Dunks may be important, but I don't think Spurs fans would want to be among that group(unless I'm dead wrong, and 3 or more of those teams have better records). Hopefully when Ian gets back, he can significantly up that area.
And I think crazy, how the did he do that layups from Tony/Manu are almost as good as dunks. Can't wait til Manu is back up to speed and can start making posters again, though.
Why Dunk?
I guess you have never seen oberto or Bonner get stuffed by guards before.
Yes...I love having the Spurs involved in the TWO LOWEST finals series OF ALL TIME.
i know how you feel man
if we had ended up getting JR Smith it would have been a different story.
anyway, its nice to see hill playing with confidence. his "down the chimney" and block were great!![]()
Amazing.
Anyway I'm taking Tim's 15footer bankshot over a dunk any day.
James white!

The FO striked again with Hill, Hairston, and Gist all in one draft. all low picks.
The only problem with not dunking a lot is that it usually means a team is a little weak around the rim and doesn't get many And 1's. For example, the Spurs team is nearly last in the league in And 1's. I'd rather they were a little more aggressive around the rim and got to the line some more (though I don't care if they actually dunk or not).
I would rather see the makes from downtown then dunks
dunks are just two points just like a layup
I guess it's wrong to try and be a little entertaining. See what gets the crowd more excited, a dunk or a layup.
...that's why crowds at the AT&T suck.
Good one Kori. I used to think the dunk was so overrated. I kinda remember the dunk when it was something only done in practice. I like our spurs of course. But those dunks sure do bring the crowds alive for sure. Those alley-oops are even more crazy. They can pump up your team as well. If Manu had someone who could jump a little in the paint as well as catch. He and whomever he was passing to would have a field day above the rim.
