I think we'll beat you if we match up in the playoffs. We have too much size and too much depth for the Spurs to deal with.
Aldridge is a 6'11" mid range jump shooter, he negates his size himself but hanging 15 feet out from the rim 90% of the game.

Oden has no real offensive game whatsoever.

So offensively, they wont really punish the Spurs anywhere near as much as teams like LA, Phoenix or even Houston.

Defensively, Aldridge will be out on the perimeter on Bonner, but its not like he blocks shots or rebounds well anyway.

Oden will likely have 2 fouls on Duncan's first two possessions.

The key will probly be how well Przybilla can defend Duncan and how much the Blazers have to double.

Now you are on crack with that statement!

Plus, you don't know anything about NBA history!

Portland is a good young team and I like Brandon Roy. He's legit!!

But teams like that have to learn how to win in the playoffs especially against a veteran team like the Spurs. The Hornets found out that painful lesson last season.

So before...you can say that Trailblazers can beat the Spurs in a 7 game series..learn your history!!

The 92 Bulls and the 00 Lakers were both young teams.

the bulls had already won it in 91.

they'd been there, and done it.

    they weren't inexperienced young players.

plus, they had michael jordan. brandon roy doesn't compare.

and the 00 lakers is one exception, IN THE LAST 20 YEARS.

    hmm.
im not going to say anything, cause the blazers are playing well in the regular season.

but then again, the spurs are playing well, and it's not even february yet.

personally, i don't even think the spurs are completely oiled up yet.

i dont ever want to see the Spurs completely, much less partially, oiled up.....Now the Silver Dancers....that is another matter all together.

Wow, I just realized that if we had won in 2001, the way people view the Spurs and Lakers rivalry would be much different

EDIT: with the Spurs looking better by still winning well after the Lakers

You guys might get a top 4 seed after all. I still think we'll beat you, but you're not bad.
A 100% healthy Spurs team would rock the Trailblazers.

I like this young Blazers team, but there is no way they are ready to beat the Spurs in a series. Maybe in 3 or 4 years.

I am rooting for them to beat the got ass Mavs tonight, but their D is atrocious. Dallas is shooting 65% so far.

    still.

the 91 bulls had michael jordan, the greatest player to ever play the game.

the lakers had kobe and shaq, two great players, who had been in the playoffs already (shaq had even been to the finals with orlando), and done it.

the 08-09 blazers DO NOT COMPARE to these teams.

i repeat, they DO NOT COMPARE.

If I remember correctly, didn't that Lakers team have Glen Rice, Ron Harper, Robert Horry, AC Green and Rick Fox?

Those are some fairly experienced players.

Edit: And I think that Bulls team lost in the Easter Conference Finals the previous two years before making it to the finals.

tlong is acting like he doesn't remember the last time Portland and SA met in the playoffs, but back to your post he is obviously taking them for granted.

Just because you're a fan of a rival conference team doesn't mean you have to disrespect, the Spurs are a great team to watch and never panic. RMS dropped 29 on the Suns last year, so when SA signed him I figured he would have a big play against the Suns this year, didn't expect it to come so quickly.

The 92 Bulls and the 00 Lakers were both young teams.
Cartwright was 33, Paxson was 30, MJ was 27 but that doesn't matter given the fact he played like a vet from day 1, and Horace Grant and Pippen were both 25. The average age of those 5 is a few years older than that of the 5 Blazer starters I'm guessing. Chicago's team had also been together for years and had made the playoffs FOR awhile, in other words, they had more EXPERIENCE than the 2009 Blazers.

00 Lakers weren't a young team so it's not even worth arguing.

Ages of the team's starting lineups tlong is comparing to one another:

    Blake - 28
    Roy - 24
    Batum - 20
    Aldridge - 23
    Oden - 21

    Shaq - 27
    AC Green - 36
    Glen Rice - 32
    Kobe Bryant - 21
    Ron Harper - 36

    Not even comparable.
