All star, biatch!!!
If so,What do you guys think of that?
It's possible, because Yi has a big amount of fans who are Chinese people
Does he deserve that honor?
All star, biatch!!!
The peoples voice will have been heard... besides garnetts a .
He obviously does NOT deserve it but lets face it, these days' all stars aren't always the best players. Right now, the league lets fans vote for who THEY want to see, and the Chinese are fans too, therefore they have every right to vote for the guy they want in it. Its not right but its not wrong either.
internet voting should be stripped. at least those coming from china.
I'd normally be pissed, but over KG? I'd have a little giggle.
you cant just throw out votes just because you dont like the way they vote.
again, all star voting is for the fans to choose who they want. the chinese are fans too and should be allowed to vote for whoever they want just like us. its no different than spurs fans voting for parker, suns fans for nash, or hornet fans for paul.
plenty of fans vote for players they like but dont necessarily deserve it. the only difference is that we dont see it cuz they cant get him enough votes but just want to try. the chinese want yi so if they can get him votes than so be it. i dont like it any more than you but as fans, they have just as much right to vote for their guy just like you or me.
They aren't NBA fans, they're China fans that only watch basketball because of Yao Yi Chi Mi General Chow and Kim Jong il. They don't deserve a vote.
WOW, not only did you just prove your own idiocy and arrogance, you jumped straight into being a racist in one post...
ps, kim jong il is korean...
Yi who??????????????
E........
I blame the people who put him on the ballot. I know each team gets 3 players but come on they could have put someone else from the Nets on there.
Carter
Harris
Simmons
That would have been more palatable
I don't have any problem with Yao getting voted in, but Steve Francis and McGrady getting in every single year only because they're Yao's teammate is ing ridiculous. The NBA should absolutely wipe out the internet vote. They should have started it a few years ago when Carter was being voted a starter every year too.
maybe NBA should open market in India since they have da second most population plus without any birth control policy, they'll hopefully surpass China in 2020
They aren't voting for anything other than the country those players are from. That goes completely counter-intuitive to the entire point of letting the fans vote for who DESERVES to go to the All-Star game. Deserves, as in has put in the on-court performances to warrant such a spot. If Americans voted the same way, every year the All-star game would be the Knicks vs. the Lakers.
As an example, would support the notion that if the 10th guy on a team's bench was Chinese and he made the all-star game, that he should get in? Because it would happen if the opportunity was there. And if you advocate for that, well, what's the point of the All-star game if people are going to vote solely based on nationalistic pride?
Not that I agree with the brash way the OP stated, but are you excusing the vote of the Chinese to get Yi into the all-star game? Is that not equally (unfairly) biased and demonstrative of a complete lack of basketball knowledge? How is it fine for them to vote for someone based on his birthplace, but it's SOOOO racist or ethnically biased for us to call them out for overwhelmingly favoring their own players? You can't say one is perfectly acceptable and the other makes that person out to be a bigot. It's nonsense.WOW, not only did you just prove your own idiocy and arrogance, you jumped straight into being a racist in one post...

Not funny, god forbid china ever gets more than 2 or 3 players in either conference and it's all over...
there are plenty of people that vote based solely on some connection to the candidate they want. its the same as people voting for obama because he is black, republicans for the republican candidate and so on. there is always going to votes that overlook true qualifications. as long as the system is the way it is, we are going to see this problem.
the all star game hasnt even been about the best players nor has it been a real compe ion for years now. being an all star doesnt mean as much as it used to. like ive said before, them voting for national pride is the same as anyone else voting for party ties and team ties and so on. , even arenas even got votes. the only difference is that when they do it, its more visible and more talked about.
i am NOT excusing anything, i am just accepting it as a flaw in the voting system. ive also said repeatedly that i dont think he deserves it and that i dont like it either.
we all vote for different reasons, just because we dont like the way they vote doesnt mean we can exclude their vote. if we do, there would be no reason to hold any election for anything at all ever.
lastly, i wasnt calling him a racist for calling them out on their votes. i was calling him a racist for mouthing off about "Chi Mi General Chow and Kim Jong il" and without applying any rational dialog to go with it.
a second lastly, why do we even need to discuss this? i mean, we all know the answer to the original question...
The All Star game doesn't have anything to do with basketball, it basically measures popularity. I don't know if it's an "honor". I even think players like Yao hate to be there.
I agree. If you are not popular, you can put up stellar numbers, but they won't count. For instance, Dirk is having one of his best seasons ever (26,1 ppg & 8,9 rpg), but he is still way behind Melo (20,5 & 7,4) and Amare (22,4 & 8,9). I don't have a problem with Duncan in the lead, but Dirk only on 4th position just barely ahead of Artest amongst the forwards in the Western Conference?? That's bulls***. And he's not the only example. We have Yi, Ridnour, grandpa Shaq etc... The list is endless. Players in front of others who have better numbers and some of them have better team records as well. As I wrote, if you are not popular, your numbers are worthless. And that's a pity.![]()
The best players should play, not the most popular ones. If Yi (driven by a huge number of Chinese fans) has more votes than e.g. Bosh, you can't say anything else than bulls***. If he even overcomes Garnett and gets a place as a starter, that would seal it. IMO, the voting system for the next edition in 2010 has to be changed.

I voted for YI about 5 times. I'm doing my part. KG is a jackass.
The Chinese people need to step their game up.
I do not care who gets in as long there is quality basketball.
