it's really simple. the patriots are 11-5 and yet SOMEHOW Denver/San Diego are going to the playoffs. the cardinals are 9-7, but so are: the cowboys, the bears, and the bucs. It is embarrassing to the NFL that the playoffs have to be marred by geography, and if you take the Cowboys in the NFC East into account, tradition.

and yes I'm a Cowboys fan, and YES we got EMBARRASSED by the Eagles, but this has nothing to do with that fact, the Cowboys had no business being in the playoffs the way they played.

They don't need to do away with the divisional system, they should just do what the NBA did a few years back. Award a higher seeding to a team if they have a better record than a division winner. I would still consider banning non division winners from obtaining a first round bye, but they should get a home game if they have a better record, IMO.

they need something to make sure a team like the Patriots doesn't get excluded in place of a first round exit like SD/Denver. makes the playoffs less interesting.

Patriots didn't do enough to get in, so they aren't. That simple.

Just because one division stinks doesn't mean the winner of said division should be punished.

If anything is broken its the explanation how the Eagles with 8 wins and a tie with the second worse team in the AFC makes the playoffs over teams with 9 wins.

    my apologies.

Tieing the Bengals should add something to it though.

This is silly; arguing about this is like arguing the BCS. It is just the way it is, some seasons it looks bad and some it doesn't.

Maybe they should allow NFL coaches to vote on which team is the best, in which case a bad tie a few months ago would count against a team that, despite that tie, ended up with a better record than everyone else that was competing for the last playoff spot.

Or maybe they can have computers figure out which of the teams is actually best and have those computers penalize a team for a bad tie in the middle of the season.

And shouldn't the Giants loss to the Browns count against them???

And while the Giants beat the Panthers, the Panthers due to a freak thing would go to the NFC Championship while the Giants would have to be tossed out.

the system is just fine.........next year the Pats need to win their division so they wont be in this situation. The league has given them everything since the tuck rule.....and now they are whiny spoiled brats. they need to get over themselves.

Leave the system alone. It has worked for decades.

yes the entire league needs to bend over and drop em for the Patriots.....cause they are the almighty Patriots....we must all kneel before Zod (Belicheat)

    get over it already.......

ok maybe we can change a few things.

    1. Give only the top seed in each Conference a bye week
    2. have 3 WC teams make the playoffs
    3. The non bye division winners host 3 wild card games (2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5)
    4. Divisional round - remains same
    5. Conference le Game - remains same
    6. SB - remains same

In 1985, the Broncos finished 11-5 and DID NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

It seems only big market gets pissed and screams bloody murder. THAT. The Patsies had a chance to knock San Diego down on National TV and got their asses kicked by the then inconsistent Bolts.

Bolts are hot now...Let it ride!

The system is fine, nothing needs to be changed. Every once in a while a team gets screwed, but not often enough for change to me made. If the Patriots hadn't got their asses kicked by the piece of Chargers earlier in the year, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

What the kind of ignorant bull is this? Have you guys heard ANYBODY from the Patriots ing about this being unfair? All they're doing is giving credit to teams like the Dolphins and saying they should have played better early on. They're disappointed they didn't get into the playoffs but nobody is crying about the way the system is set up.

Maybe know what the you dumbasses are talking about next time.

There are too many teams in the playoffs as it is. If you can't even make them with the setup the way it is, you definitely don't deserve to be there.

  22. #22
yes i think every year when one team who is good doesnt get into the playoffs of said sports that we should change the rules up.

im pretty sure that every eyar a good team gets left out in every sport. the system works and as it is they should have never even added a second wild card team a few years back.

the chargers are on a hot streak and did what they needed to do to get in. kudos to them. the patriots, though they did do alot better than anyone imagine, didnt take care of buisness and are thus not in the playoffs.

Reading is Fundamental. DUDE...get a grip. It's the MEDIA that is whining and ing about the records and the division. Big Market Media, namely the 4-letter network is the one doing all the whining. So when I said what I said, I never inferred it was anyone from the Patriots.

    SO
Maybe know what the you dumbasses are talking about next time.

show one instance of ESPN ing about the Patriots getting screwd. They probably openly laughed their asses off over it. ESPN hates the Patriots like Kenny Smith hates Dirk Nowitzki.

So show me one time when any big market media whined about the Patriots, or maybe know what the you're talking about next time.

I imagine something like this went down late Sunday evening:

    Tom Brady's cell phone rings

Brady: This better be good, Peyton. I was just about to nut all over Gisele's s.

Manning: Dunno if you saw it yet but we're playing the Chargers next week.

    Brady: So I heard.

Manning: Any tips on how to beat them?

Brady: Not really. They tend to choke when they play us. Just use that "laser rocket arm" of yours to chode bload their secondary, I'm sure that's a good game plan.

Manning: Good idea. Tell Gisele I said o.

    Brady: Sure thing.

Gisele, who had been going down on Brady the whole time, looks up and says:

    Bundchen: Who was that, Tommy?

Brady nuts all over Gisele's s

Brady: Oh that was Peyton. He says o.
