Mr. Robinson = class.
Best player imo and a all around great guy.
I may be bias because He is NAVY.![]()
I got a chance to rub shoulders with Mr. Robinson a few years ago at a Rampage game (they were throwing a birthday party for his son). I was getting some food at the charter level when I noticed that the Arena staff had a Spurs road game on the lounge TVs, and planted on one of the couches was Mr. Robinson himself!!! Needless to say I was shocked as , but he was nice and he shook my hand!

Speaking of David Robinson, I'm closing the donations to the Carver Academy on Monday. So if anyone wants to contribute, please do so before then (or at least PM and tell me the check/Paypal is on the way). Details are in the thread stuck at the top of the forum.
I swear I must have like 15 David Robinson rookie of the year cards.
Kori, I really want to but Im in a really tight spot right now for about a month. I hope this comes about again next year. If I can find a way to work around what Im doing cash wise I will definately try before you close it out.
As far as this post goes, call me cynical but this dude probably just posted so he could peddle off his card on ebay. Its just the same as those jackasses that come here once in a while trying to sell some shoes or some other crap. I'd ban his ass.
That's not even that nice of a card. My Fleer Jordan rookie has much better centering and corners than that one.
You'd bet wrong.
I really need to go through my cards, I have 3 HUGE binders with mint condition fleet cards. I know for a fact I have Rodman cards from the pistons, bulls and Spurs. Im sure I have a few Larry Bird cards as well, not to mention Magic, Hakeem, Jordan and many others. I started collecting at the age of 5 and purchased cards everyday until about the age of 15.
I REALLY need to check those cards out, they are sitting in a sealed box in a closet, all of them in protective binder flaps in closed binders.
Dave has always been my all-time favorite player and this just added to it.

Just went and pulled out my collection and found a NBA Hoops David Robinson All-Star gold card from Feb 9-11, 1990 taking a shot over Barkley.
Still in mint condition.... SWEET!
Behind it was a Fleer Avery Johnson Golden State Warriors card from 1993-1994, lol!!!
Damn this brings up memories, Im just looking at this one sleeve and I got 4 Spud Webb cards, the Robinson all-star card, 3 Moses Malone Cards, a Dominique wilkins Card, the A.J Card from the Warriors, Maurice Cheeks and 2 Glenn Rivers cards.
And thats just on a loose sleeve that was sitting outside of my binders.![]()

Are you joking?![]()
While Jordan, Barkley and others playing poker in Barcelona in 1992 Olympics...
DRob was busy reading his bible.
DRob is the man! Spurs team and fans are very lucky to have DRob and TD!
I'd do anything to have his autograph and take a photo with him![]()
I wasn't too much of an NBA fan growing up in Northern VA. Football, and the Redskins in particular, was my only sports passion. Then I met my wife. She had gone to high school with David Robinson (OP in Manassas, VA). Also, her cousin graduated from the Naval Academy in 1987 with DRob. She's even got pics of him from high school laying around somewhere. DRob is, was, and always will be THE MAN. He's the reason we're Spurs fans...and Spurs fans for life!![]()
there are many of us that due to the admiration to the admiral became Spurs fansback at ya
he is the reason i love basketball, spurs & nba....
David Robinson was a great player and without a doubt seems to be a real nice man. Spurs were lucky to have him.
i still regret his reaction to Nash (and some others players like NVE or Nowitzki) opposition to war in Iraq. He said that he should go in another country than usa if he was against the war.
i'm definitely not arguing whether the war was a good or bad thing, and i understand and in a sense share his opinion about the war but the reaction from David was really manichean, excessive, close-minded and a little disappointing for me.If it's an embarrassment to them, maybe they should be in a different country, because this is America and we're supposed to be proud of the guys we elected and put in office
Still happy every time i see him on a video. reminds me how much a great player and nice person he was/is.

about the war he was saying its important to support your troops instead of bashing them...even if you were con the war or pro...just support your friends, citizens etc...
and he is from NAVY...so he may have the navy education and a lot of patriotism feelings...
Without saying to much as I'm sure so many have already said it.
Drob is the main reason why I fell in love with basketball. If I could make a time machine I would travel back in time just to see him play again.
He brought humility and poise to the game.
