He said to say they flat out destroyed the Spurs would be wrong. Winning 1 out of 5 is destroying.
2001 WCF: Lakers really destroyed us in games 3 and 4.

They didn't destroy the Spurs...even if it was 5 games. There were three games played within 8 points or less and each team had a blowout each in the other two games in the series...that's a wash!!

Total destruction of one team over another team would be a sweep or one team beating another team by double-digits in each game of the series.

    Thanks, Lefty!!

At least you understand what I meant.....

There was a blowout from each team and three games decided by 8 points or less in that series. That makes it a close series!!!

    That's exactly right.

No one can go to the final boxscore and say Lakers won by blowout games.
Destroying a team would cons ute beating them by double digits and not letting that certain team even close throughout the games.

Lakers blew the Spurs once and the Spurs came back the next game to repay them with the same treatment.

So by your logic... if you get swept and each game was say a 4 pt game. It was a close series.

I think the loss of Posey is what has exposed them. He made their bench a LOT better. Now when the starters are resting, they get their ass handed to them.

LMAO at Spur fans twisted logic.

4-1 in the WCF is a decisive victory. By Game 5 it was clear who the better team was, no question about that.

The Celtics slump and the loss to the Lakers on X-Mas day are two unrelated events. A slump does not last 8 games.

Regarding SPurs/Lakers, the Lakers were clearly better team but it was not domination by any means. A compe ive series with each team having a blowout win but the Lakers were slightly better in the other 3 games. It was more compe ive than the Celtics/Hawks series that went to 7... Celtics won all 4 of their games by 20+ points I believe.

regardless of what or who caused it, I for one am exstatic. those front-running es. Someone better shut those mouth runners down in the playoffs, what ever force is out there willing, I hope its the Spurs but if not I will be happy if its a "lowly" East team just to make it worse, if not, any West team that takes them down will have my gra ude for the offseason.

Those Smelltic fans are a bunch of the worst type of es, if you think Laker fans are bad..... You need to be slapped.

Right, they are saying individually the games were close. The only game that was a blowout was Game 2. That's not twisted logic. No one insulted the Lakers, don't have a meltdown.

The only game that wasnt close in the Lakers/Celtics finals was game 6.
I didn't mention that series??? Anyways, I know that. That's why I didn't say that the Celtics destroyed the Lakers that series.

Also, the Spurs blew a 20 point lead in one of those games against the Lakers.
Yes they did. Lakers did that against the Celtics as well. It probably cost both teams their chance in those series.

Its a waste of time for Spurs fan to debate or argue with a Lakers fan.
Then why does your fanbase do it on a consistent basis? You know, if it's a waste of time and all. Plus it's a new season so we can debate all we want about trivial matters such as this. This is a discussion board after all.

    WE OWN THE SPURS!!!
The Lakers definitely beat them in the postseason most years.

Again, Lakers fans with their revisionist history of last year's WCF. It was close series even though it ended in 5 games. So it wasn't a destruction..be realistic!!

Also, the Spurs stopped the Lakers in 2003 and won a championship.

The Spurs-Lakers have been a good rivalry in the 2000's and I'm looking for them to get at again in this year's WCF.

hahaha dont flatter yourself....what rivary? your team is not even on our level. the only threatenin "rivals" laker fans would consider are the celtics and the cavs!!

The Celtics are not in a slump... I keep telling people this. This team was overrated to begin with. Teams bought into their hype. KG is the only decent defender they have and yet they gained a reputation for being a great defensive team. My ASS!!! Teams just failed to take it to them... period. The Lakers defeated the Celtics Myth... and thats all it was, and now evey team in the league is joining in for the beatdown, thanks to the Lakeshow.

If the Celtics were so great, why would Jerry Buss call them out on opening day. No owner does that for fear of looking like a fool.. (see Cuban) but Buss knew that team was overrated and now you guys finally see and believe that you can beat the Celtics because the LAKERS showed you the way.
So did the Pacers and Nuggets earlier in the season.

Furthermore, if the Celtics aren't a great defensive team, who the is this year? They're still 1st in defensive efficiency.

You call this a rivalry you dup !!!

Since 1982, the Lakers have faced the Spurs 10 times in the playoffs, winning seven times and holding a 30-17 overall edge in games. The Lakers are 4-0 against the Spurs in the conference final, winning 16 of the 19 games played.
Here's the Lakers-Spurs playoff series history:

    1982...Conference Final...Lakers ... 4-0
    1983...Conference Final...Lakers ... 4-2
    1986...First round.............Lakers ....3-0
    1988...First round ............Lakers ... 3-0
    1995...Second round .......Spurs .....4-2
    1999...Second round .......Spurs .....4-0
    2001...Conference Final...Lakers.....4-0
    2002...Second round .......Lakers.....4-1
    2003...Second round .......Spurs .....4-2
    2004...Second round........Lakers....4-2
    2008... Conference Final...Lakers... 4-1

Typical Spurs fan reaction. They can't defend the fact that the Lakers have owned them since their introduction to the NBA so they bring up some silly argument that the Lakers haven't won since 2002 (disregarding the fact that they've managed to make the Finals twice in that era, both times destroying the Spurs en route).

Well guess what they still have 14 rings, and last I checked 14 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 4.

Many excellent teams go through a rough stretch in a 82 game season. The Spurs and Celtics have gone through theirs and there's no doubt that the Lakers will go through one before the end of the regular season.

Get the out of your eyes buddy. This Lakers team have not even kicked it into third gear and we are killing teams.
You might want to get it out of yours. Your comments are those I'd expect from a blind homer.
