We did a good job on Dwight at least.

The Magic were just on fire.

I'm not taking this one too hard. The Spurs proved to me they can play with the good teams, and this game with a quiet Mason/Finley/Bonner. Sometimes they just don't fall. Better in January than in June.

    Final: Magic 105, Spurs 98
    By Joe Alexander

J.J. Red and Jameer Nelson each hit a big 3-pointer in the final three minutes of the game to help the Magic capture a 105-98 victory over the Spurs.

Red 's 3-pointer put the Magic in front for good with 2:34 left.

Dwight Howard led the Magic with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 31 points.

    FOURTH QUARTER

It's staying close, and sometimes a little rough, heading down the stretch. The Magic lead 97-94 with 2:18 left.

Roger Mason Jr.'s second basket of the game was a 3-pointer with 6:30 remaining. That put the Spurs in front 86-85.

It's that kind of night. Tony Parker went in for a rebound and got knocked down by Tim Duncan. The ball went out off the Spurs and the Magic got it back.

The Magic's Keith Bogans and Rashard Lewis hit back-to-back 3-pointers. Orlando lead 80-77 with 8:56 left.

The Spurs got a jumper from Kurt Thomas and a 3-pointer from Manu Ginobili early in the quarter. More importantly, the Magic went scoreless their first three possessions. The Spurs lead 77-74.

The Spurs opened the fourth quarter with George Hill, Roger Mason Jr., Manu Ginobili, Bruce Bowena and Kurt Thomas on the floor.

    THIRD QUARTER

Former Spur Hedo Turkoglu scored 12 points in the last 9:21 of the third quarter to help the Magic take a 74-72 lead into the final period.

Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard combined for the Magic's last 14 points. The Spurs look a little frustrated over some calls and the Magic lead 69-68.

Hedo Turkoglu's scoring got the the Magic going again after they went scoreless seven of their first eight possession of the second half.

The Spurs' defense is kicking in and they wiped out what was an eight-point Magic lead. Tony Parker has three baskets in a two-minute stretch and the Spurs lead 59-57.

Michael Finley made a couple of hustle plays, including a steal he converting into a dunk for the Spurs' first basket of the second half.

The Spurs' starters were on the floor to begin the second half.

    SECOND QUARTER

The Magic are shooting 50 percent and made five 3-pointers in the second quarter. They took a 55-50 halftime lead.

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 18 points and six assists in the half. Tim Duncan didn't score in the second quarter.

Tim Duncan is looking tired. He sat out the first seven minutes of the second quarter and still was hanging back on offense on some possessions.

Kurt Thomas has hit three of his last four shots and Tony Parker is up to 10 points. The Magic lead 45-42.

J.J. Red and Hedo Turkoglu hit back-to-back 3-pointers. The Magic have their biggest lead so far at 40-32.

    FIRST QUARTER

The Magic finished the first quarter with a 9-2 run to take a 34-28 lead.

Tim Duncan and Tony Parker combined to score the Spurs' first 18 points. Michael Finley's basket made it 20-20.

Midway through the first quarter, Tony Parker made his third baskets. He made three baskets the entire game the last time the Spurs played the Magic.

Tim Duncan made his first four shots and the Spurs are shooting well. The Magic are just as hot and lead 15-14.

ing spurstalk posters bringing up tp again as a scapegoat. ing pathetic. Tp kept us in the game for the larger part of the game. Yeah he missed two crucial layups but the ballhog point is pure bull . Spurs were on the fast break both times and he just came up short. Tp is one of our best finishers.

The magic's 3pt barrage won the game.

Magic flat out kicked our asses tonight.

We got beat and we're not elite. Spurs got A LOT OF work to do.

We did actually play a very good game, but it just wasn't good enough. We normally win these types of games at home. We don't lose these types of games in a Championship season.

Can it just be accounted for to the Magics hot three point shooting? how do you explain almost every team in the league coming into San Antonio and shooting lights out? Why does it happen all the time.

True, I reckon the bad calls went against us, but there were lots both ways.

Yeah, other than a few turnovers in the first half by Manu and shaky play down the stretch, don't take this one too hard. The Magic would not shoot 67% in a 7 game series, no way.

No one should have a damn ing thing to say about the Spurs. They busted their ass out there. They worked and worked and gained the lead back after a slew of no calls and horrible calls, only to have it COMPLETELY ED by two phantom calls. That completely ed us over, we had hte momentum we just got a stop, then we get called for a "moving screen" even though Duncan was standing still. Then, Lewis misses a three AFTER NOT GETTING BREATHED ON and he gets three free throws and the Magic never look back. I don't understand. I just don't. Complaining about the refs is ign weak and I'm doing it hardcore right now but seriously, that looked ing shady. It just looked ing shady.

The spurs played pathetic defense.. its as simple as that. Pop didn't make any adjustments and the spurs lost. I would of tried udoka.. probably even oberto just to see how they would have played. Too many wide open 3's for orlando and that killed the spurs.

Not taking anything away from the Magic with their crazy 3s and their well-paid refs, but the Spurs need to wake the up.

I can't believe that call Ruff. Why was Mason benched?

I guess because of that open three he gave red , but Finley got one drilled on him shortly after that benching to.

Pop has to leave Mason on the court to let him make up for it like he does Manu.

How in the does Finley always get the call???????????

    It's JANUARY.

Same happened last year, the year before that, and before that, and before that.

If we are still making basic defensive errors in March, then start worrying.

Also, we need a big, but you know that already.

Turkoglu scoring 21 will win every time.

But he has as much chance of doing that in a big game as Bonner does. (Hopefully, we will understand our end of that equation before April rolls around.)

We had more blocks, more steals, more rebounds, more assists, and fewer turnovers. We had more shot attempts, and we shot over 50% from the floor - plus we went 17-17 from the free throw line. Normally that would make for a big win. But not when the other team shoots 14-22 from the 3P line. We left too many wide open 3-pointers, but the Magic also made some really tough shots. It was one of those nights when the other team was just in the zone.

Dude. The spurs aren't going to win every game. We are number 1 in the southwest. That's pretty good considering how the season started. In the grand scheme of things, we are fine. Like Sean Elliott mentioned in the game, if the magic shot that percentage against any other team, it would be a double digit lead. Some of those shots were contested. Magic were better today.

42 ptrs from 3Gs is hard to overcome. But Spurs were close.
Couldn't find a way to win, couldn't make their shots down the stretch. Nobody really showed up in crunch time.

Historic loss, first time the Magic sweep the Spurs, at least during the Duncan era.

Boston also beat Duncan @SA for the first time last year, or year before.
