Rob is in SA a lot.
calls were fair, there was a clear goaltend against a shot by Bynum near the end where the ref said ball was going up. Replay showed it clearly going down.
And the refs not calling the foul on Fisher on Cook's 3 point attempt.
I did not get a good look at that. But what a reach in by Kobe and a headbutt??? What else do you have to do to get a call? That is unreal.
announcers mentioned this play and how the refs let them play in the end. another non-call like when first Barry traveled then Fisher fouled him in game 4 of last year's WCF.
Laker classic game from 1988 afterwards, Finals Game 7 versus Pistons. The game that finally got us our dynasty status in the 80's when we were the first team in 20 seasons to win a back to back championship.
Yeah that was a bad no call. IDK how the refs did not call Bryant for that one. But in the end it was that Bynum rebound that did them in. Why the Heat did not put in Magloire for rebounding is beyond me.
But you know if that was Kobe I would be hard press to see the refs swallow thier whistle if Kobe gets contact on a 3pt shot.
Lakers defense is Horrid. Pathetic might be a compliment.
lol, fans outside at the Staples center post game show, are always chanting "Boston Sucks!" Someone tossed Rick Fox a Boston Sucks T-Shirt and he held it up, then tucked the sucks part under....
Then Wade should have taken the last shot. Announcers mentioned a new player won't get that call. Lakers led most of the way, it was our game to win all along.
Ok, I just saw the replay. He did. However, as Wade commented just now on postgame, he passed the ball to Cook who missed a wide open 3 for the lead. The alternative is a foul is called, and Wade shoots two, which he has to make. Still time on the clock for a winning shot by the Lakers, or at worst, overtime. I like our chances either way. However, if you are going to select the calls that went the Lakers way, look at the ones that went the Miami way at the end. I noted one above, the non-goaltending call of Bynum's shot.
It all evens out, time to move on.
You cannot equate a goal tending call with a headbutt. Not the end of the world, but surprising there can be that much physical contact and no call at the end of games.
Sure you can equate them. Both influence the game and how it plays out. If a call isn't made and griped about by a fan in a forum thread, all calls come under scrutiny. What game is ever reffed perfectly? They miss plenty and do a decent job as it is. They missed what the replays showed. Also, it was more of a glancing head butt as Kobe reached for the ball, not a direct ram.
Change any call at any point in a game, and the rest of the game plays out entirely different than it actually did. I made a post explaining this in detail. I should have bookmarked it, or I can recreate it if you wish.
No, I fully understand what you are saying. What I am saying, is that a goal tend is common. Headbutts are not. It was more than glancing, because it cut Kobe's eye open.
Find a video if you can. I saw the replay once. To me it looked like a glance. To me, you are more likely to cut your head open with a glance, much like an abrasion you get in any sliding motion. A direct hit gives you a big knot on your noggin. For now without a video, it was between a head butt and a glance. As I pointed out with the non-call, Miami had a chance to go ahead. And once again, if Bynum's shot is called correctly, the head butt/glance never happens because everything on the court changes. Totally undecided outcome, and we have two points more than otherwise.
Didn't he play the first half of his career with them?
Pretty much, and during their hibernation from glory. Then he retired when we traded him back to Boston in 2004. He's a Laker.
Not too bad. Knowing Rob, I bet he was saying it with that eating grin he's famous for.
That doesn't sound like something Derek would say....unless he was quoted out of context...I imagine he probably said if we continue to improve and play like we're capable, we can win it all this year.![]()
oh give me a break.... spurs fans have alot of ing nerves to complain about the refs especially during their playoff runs against phoenix
grow the up already and recognize the lakers are a better team right now than anyone in the western conference
yea i saw that, was busy with stuff so my tv was muted. thanks for recapping what he said.
