It feels like I'm talking to a wall. Yes I understand he shoots a good %. I don't see why that would absolve him from criticism on his shot selection. Or are you gonna tell me that airball he threw up was just unlucky?
Come on, man. You are going to about the airball? He had hit like six straight shots. That was just a heat check.

Oh ok. That one in the first quarter. And then again in the second. Oh and there was one near the end of the that one game from a while ago. I'm gonna watch the Laker game and write down every time he takes a stupid shot just for you.
So you can't name the shots. If it's such a trend, shouldn't this be a simple task?

Hard to say. Would you be hanging all over his nuts like you are now?
Another non answer. And if "hanging on his nuts" consists of not getting mad at TP shooting wide open attempts at the rim when the Spurs are down multiple possessions, then yeah I guess you have it right.

That doesn't sound like a 50%+ shooter to me.

So you don't want to name the shots?
How am I supposed to name the shots? You think I have a catalog of all of Tony's missed shots that I keep for such an occasion? What I find funny is that I merely comment that I don't like the trend of him taking the most shots on team (those 0 assists in the second half were helpful) and I get pounced on like I just spoke ill of jesus christ. As I said, I don't blame him for the loss. But I do question his shot selection at certain times in certain games.

I know. I'm not ing about it. It's just I get absolutely blasted any time I question the lord and savior Tony Parker. He's good and maybe even great. But he's not perfect and he does take stupid shots (as do all of the Spurs). The difference with him is that he's supposed to run the team, not dribble around for a while, not pass to anyone, and then take a jump shot (actually happened last night).

His second missed shot might not have been but the first one was.
Yeah, Parker only makes that shot about 70% of the time. He should have pulled the ball back out and reset and looked for a better shot. Who cares about being down multiple possessions with under a minute to go?

You want me to answer a stupid ad-hominem question? If he took my approved shots he'd shoot 150%. There ya go.

Link to where I blasted you for saying he's taking the most shots on the team? I'm just correcting your woefully bad analysis of those final two misses.

And guess who led the Spurs in shot attempts in both the regular season and the playoffs in 2007?

@ you going emo. TP is the most bashed of the Big Three ... by far. Don't try to pretend you are the first one to wrongfully criticize him.

Most of the time when he dribbles around and doesn't pass to anyone, that's when Pop has called an iso for him. Anyway, of course, he puts up bad shots sometimes - he's not perfect. But he shouldn't always be the scapegoat for every loss. Especially when 3-point shooters aren't getting open and when he's doing what he's instructed by his coach (i.e. get a quick layup, shoot ~20 times a game, etc).

My mistake for wanting a better shot than a running tear drop when he was outnumbered.

New Age Spurs Fans are hilarious. Parker is once again the scapegoat after going for 31 points and six assists while shooting 13-for-24 from the floor and turning the ball over only twice. Not Duncan, who was MIA for about 70% of the game, or Ginobili, who had a team worst plus/minus and was obviously hurting more than helping. Parker takes the blame.

    Amazing.

    Props
you have any idea why timmy sat for so long in the second? i know he played basically the entire third, but it just seemed odd.

Please explain how I'm supposed to name specific shots.
By watching the games and remembering all the bad shots he took. For example, you can say: "I thought that last wide open layup was a bad shot. He took it with way too much time on the shotclock."

Oh wait, you already said that . . .

You want me to answer a stupid ad-hominem question? If he took my approved shots he'd shoot 150%. There ya go.
You can't even make a legitimate guess? If the 50%+ shooting point guard only took shots you thought were good, he must potentially have the ability to lead the league in FG% ... if not break all-time records.

I'm not making him the scapegoat. I'm saying I don't like it when he plays well in the first half and then forgets he has teammates in the second. Oh lemme guess. Someone's gonna jump on that last statement for not being true.

The 70% shot wasn't good enough? What exactly did you want in that situation?

Who is leading the team this year?
Parker. Which is a good omen if you would have answered the last question.

I, too, sometimes question Tony's shot selection. Not just at the end of games, but throughout the game. More often than not, he'll make the right play...but it's frustrating when he doesn't, because we know he's capable of better.

I was okay with last night's selection, but the execution of the final two was atrocious. I mean, he flat out blew an open layup.

How would you like me to reference said bad shots? Should I tape every game and say, "at the 4:30 mark in the second, Tony hiccuped and took a bad jumper"?

You can't even make a legitimate guess? If the 50%+ shooting point guard only took shots you thought were good, he must potentially have the ability to lead the league in FG% ... if not break all-time records.
I guess I'm the first person to question a player's shot selection. Man you sure got me. 75%. No no 80%. No wait, some days I like him taking more shots. 55%. Well then again I get mad when he takes stupid jump shots while he's covered. So maybe 62%. 69%. 94%?

That's a good question. With as much as Duncan was rolling in the first, that might have gotten him out of rhythm. He usually doesn't sit for eight minutes in a row ... especially when not in foul trouble.

Can you read? He says he blew an open layup. Not that he shouldn't have taken the open layup ... as you so brightly ascertained.

But yeah, I'd love for someone to answer what TP would shoot percentage-wise if he had good shot selection.
