Yet spurs have won only 2 of the 6 playoff head to head matchups. Let's hope that number is the next to even out.
There have been 11 complete NBA seasons since the Duncan Era began. How do the Spurs and the Fakers stack up? Galileo takes a look:

Waiting for someone to fall into the "Shaq" pitfall.

TD>Kobe
Do the math!!

1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers

I suppose that would make sense, if the le of the thread didn't say "The Duncan Era", which is the only era I give a damn about. Talk about Jerry West and how you think he's cute all you want, Los Angeles-living got, I could care less.
errr, Faker Fanny, the Spurs won 4 rings during 11 years of the Duncan era. So if you claim the Fakers won 9 rings in the Duncan era, then there would have been 13 NBA champs in only 11 years.
Not likely.

Man, I thought you would've went for how he only showed 8 trophies in his pictures. All those Fakers fans are stupid as .
The bottomline is the Lakers have been great in nearly every decade of the NBA's existence. They've put up championship teams around several different generations of players. They've managed to rebuild quickly and stay near the top of the heap most seasons. Rarely have they even missed the playoffs.
For the Spurs to even be compared to the Lakers they need to show that they can rebuild and win post Duncan. Right now they've only won with him. If not they'll be just like the Bulls of the 90's IMHO and nowhere near the Lakers as a franchise.
Ah let them be. It's just nice to see the Laker fans emerge. 2004-2005, I thought they were extinct. That's probably because they don't cheer a team that loses. Also, thankfully the Spurs don't make New York Knicks-like performances in the finals
Actually the Lakers were still selling out games when they sucked in '04/05/06.
What will happen to the Spurs once Duncan retires? That is what you need to ask yourselves. You can't even sell out playoffs games NOW.
It really is fun owning these ignorant Spur's fans.
LA Metro population 17,755,322
San Antonio population 1,990,675
Wow. You sure showed us. I can't believe how much you sell out playoff games. It's really crazy.
In head to head playoff matches, there's no doubt that the Lakers have inflicted the most painful losses against the Spurs.
When Kobe and PJ see the Spurs in the playoffs, they start licking their chops. They seem to relish in kicking our guts out, and they do a fine job of it.
Hat's off to them. They own us - before the homers start screaming, you know damn well if the numbers were reversed you'd be making the same claim.
This argument will be settled in 2010 when the decade (2000-01 to 2009-10) closes and a team of the decade is decided. It's between the Lakers and the Spurs right now and too close to call. Pistons can crash the party and stake a claim should they win back-to-back in the next two years.
you have to say it, there are a lot of laker fans here.
head to head, the Lakers have been better than us..there's no doubt about that..
as for this era, we've been better..more les, and more importantly, the Lakers missed the playoffs/were eliminated in the 1st round twice..
there's still this season and the next though..LA will certainly have a good shot at winning les in the next 2 years..
as for history..unfair to compare..Lakers have been around longer, and they've had the luxury of star players demanding to play for them, and signing with them..the location and prestige of the Lakers name(since they've been around for so long) is obviously a factor..
wow OP. you went to great lengths to show some useless stats. sure spurs havent missed a playoff in the duncan era. but they never had to rebuild. kobe took the lakers to the playoffs with smush, walton, and mihm starting.......
duncans got 4 rings to kobes 3, and there no arguing there. but lakers beat the spurs 4 out of 6 times in head to head playoff series.....
WTF!!! they are of the same thing. There is only one O'Brian cup that has shared over these several damn teams year after year.![]()
Duncan took the Spurs to the WCF with Antonio Daniels, Terry Porter, and Danny Ferry starting.
Why is that trophy sitting in what looks like a small ass dining room?
