I hate Phil more than any Laker ever. He is everything that is wrong with the Lakers at ude. He is an elitist and cry baby. Kobe I respect, Phil I do not.

Most satisfying regular season ever as we did not have to watch the Kobe's bad imitation of Cassell (even Kobe cannot be that ugly) over and over.
can we get some pics of cassell's parents?? Just out of curiosity..was it drugs and drinking during the pregnancy or what??

I agree my perfect Laker team would swap Phil/Gasol for Duncan/Pop ...my team would dominate the world including LEbron ...

You all need to quit acting like this is a big ing deal though. If any of you have ever played a sport, you know that there is trash talking all over the field during a game by both teams... it's just part of sports. I remember one game in high school football the coach subbed me in as a fullback to block on offense (I played defensive line) and the guys on the other team defense were saying like "You gona let the quota-back you in the shower like he does to the rest of the offense?". I talked my fair share of on the field too but if you think Kobe saying " him" is a bad thing, then I wish the NFL would start wiring players so you could hear what they say during games.

Yall act like you expect Kobe to pat Tim Duncan on the back and give Roger Mason a golf clap for hitting those two clutch shots.

The Fakers fans actually think that Kobe would end up being a better player than Jordan. Now that is one disillusion fan base.

BTW they are whinging about MJ not having compe ion. Well duh, he destroyed them you silly Fakers.

News flash Fakers fans: Kobe isn't even the best player post the Jordan era. Want a hint as to who that le belongs to? Duncan & that big fellow who Kobe chased out of LA.

Prior to Mason hitting the game winner, Kobe said:

"Don't worry about doubling Tim. He made that bullsh!t shot. Fvck him."

    Interesting
I see where Kobe was coming from. It was like trying to stop the Earth's rotation.

I have no problem with Kobe's comments or his dance. He played the perfect villain last night, complete with outward displays of rage after Manu's 3 pointer to end the 3rd and Mason's +1 at the end of the game.

It was awesome. HOWEVER...The Spurs MUST concentrate on rebounding and playing better defense in order to beat the Lakers in a series.

And what was up with Bruce riding the bench for so long last night ? I was getting queasy watching Mason (or anyone for that matter) trying to guard Kobe in the 4th qtr. There is no way Bruce's game has fallen back that much.

I have a feeling Pop is trying to see how far he can push Mason defensively or trying to have the Spurs stop relying Bruce's D to bail them out. I'm really not sure.

After rewatching the game, Mason's defense was not as bad as I first thought. Kobe hit alot of tough shots.

I didn't see anything Mason didn't do that Bowen would've.

The Spurs aren't on LAL's level yet. This game actually showed me that more than anything.

Any team can win a regular season game with hot shooting. The Spurs still gave up 111 pts to a team playing a b2b without 3 rotation players and with one of them coming back from a bone bruise. They had to shoot 57% to win by 1 pt and needed an idiotic Fisher foul to do so.

A win is a win, but this loss showed me how good the Lakers are. You need to play perfect just to have a chance to beat them most nights.

I think it is necessary to try out Mason on Kobe. Bruce may be in fine form for the playoffs, but they really shouldn't let their gameplan be 'Bruce'll shut down Kobe and they rest of y'all just rotate and try to grab the boards' - that would be a terrible idea.

A game in January is an excellent time to see what Mason is capable of and see what the team can do without Bruce. If Bruce can come in and disrupt Kobe and shut him down some - terrific. I expect that if these were the playoffs, we'd have seen more of Bruce. But Mason held up ok. We needed to know that and see that. Because there are likely to be more situations like last night where Bruce is an offensive liability and if Mason can hold up decently on defense, it's much better option at the end of the game.

Even as a Spurs fan, I find it hard to hate the Lakers or Kobe because they can back up their swagger most of the time when it counts. mavs, Suns and Hornets, OTOH,... THOSE ES!!!

    DrHouse,

Obviously...I will disagree. One regular season game isn't going to dictate how things are going to play out in the playoffs.

I could have said the same thing about the Spurs-Magic game last Sunday. The Magic shot 63% from 3 pt range. It probably won't happen in the playoffs...but it doesn't change the fact they are a legit contender.

Most Spurs fans know the Lakers are good, very good offensively. But, there is a lack of defensive intensity from this Lakers squad. They were several layups giving up and missed defensive assignments the Lakers had throughout the game. And they still give up too many 100 point games(18 out of their 38 games)...to win a le.

This was an offensive game from the beginning and the pace of the game was for the Lakers. The Spurs matched their pace and scored with them shot for shot.

I will give the Lakers credit for coming back in the fourth quarter. They're a good team and basketball is a rhythm game. That happens all the time!!

But the Lakers know the Spurs are a legit threat and if Manu's fully healthy...the Spurs can and will beat them in a seven game series.

The Lakers scored 56/111 pts in the paint. These are high percentage looks. The Spurs cannot stop the Lakers front court attack. That's the series right there. Mason, Hill....these guys don't solve that problem.

If you can't outrebound the Lakers, keep them out of the paint, or stop their #1 player you will not beat them in a 7 game series.
