Reaction to Spurs' victory over Lakers

He was more of a slasher in college. In the NBA, Roger Mason Jr. mostly slays teams with his outside shooting, a notion that leaves the long-distance San Antonio Spurs sniper laughing aloud.

The Lakers-Spurs game Wednesday had to take the cake. In terms of excitement, quality of teams and last-minute lead changes, you'll have trouble finding a better game this season.

The Lakers and Spurs can still thrill after all these years, and Derek Fisher was at the heart of it again. This time, Fisher was the goat in San Antonio's 112-111 victory.

Though the Lakers were missing two key reserves, their bench still played well against the Spurs. It's just that San Antonio's bench was more productive. Well, to be fair, Spurs sixth man Manu Ginobili was great.

Colin Ward-Henninge, Los Angeles Lakers Examiner
One of the biggest questions about the Spurs has been whether the players that have stepped up during the regular season would actually be factors come playoff time.

Manu Ginobili had not enjoyed one of those nights in a while. He had not put up some of those numbers in a while either. So much for the past. Ginobili got his groove back.

The No-Look Pass
Face it, people. Never ever count the San Antonio Spurs OUT until all of those guys are gone. The guys being Tim Duncan (man is an MVP candidate), Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Gregg Popovich.

We're in the top 4 but I don't know how much higher you can put us until a little later in the season.
Thanks for the compilation work, 228. You're a gem.![]()
We haven't done anything yet to prove that we are better than the Lakers, Celtics, Magic or Cavs
exactly, all 4 are above us.... and by a good margin right now.
Ohh, we will compete in the playoffs and have more than a small chance of making the finals regardless of what homers of those other 4 teams say, but we are most definately not the cream of the crop at this point in the season.
we will see where we stand after the RRT ...
How did Cedric Golden make that list?
Duncan228, I love this. Thank you for bringing together all of these articles in to one easy-to-read place.
Indeed. It amazes me how duncan228 does it consistently.
And to duncan228, many thanks!![]()
I can see why we would be 5th right now:
Lakers, Orlando, Cavs, Celtics are all doing better so far.
But if playoffs started today, I could see Spurs competing will all those above.
interesting thing is there is no clear cut favorite anymore
