I hope he can contribute. Not a bad move, though still not what the Spurs really need. But the last month of threads on the subject have me convinced that the missing piece may not be out there for the what the Spurs have to offer. Here's hoping for a pleasant surprise from this signing.

I feel the way Pop looks in your sig about this signing. I don't think it makes a difference one way or the other.

I am curious about this addition. More excited then worrisome. I have always liked his intensity, maybe bonner can learn something from it.
    enough with the Bonner bashing!

What is the reason for signing him? He doesn't bring anything the Spurs need. He is not a good interior defender, or shot blocker, or rebounder and is just another unathletic option that looks for the perimeter shot.

Unless the spurs have a trade in the works I don't see this as improving the team at all.

First, can you trade a player who's only on a 10 day contract?

Second, I agree. This is a move that does essentially nothing, but since Oberto can't stay healthy, its insurance.

Croshere has career averages of 6.8 points and 4.0 rebounds.

    enough with the Bonner bashing!
    cry me a murky pond.

wasn't bashing the red rocket, just commenting on the intensity difference. Bonner can raise it a bit on the boards and such, you can't disagree there. Austin has/had an intensity comparable to Hapring in Utah.

So calm down, banging your head repe ively against a brick wall may leave a mark.

That's what I was wondering. If Croshere can provide what Bonner has it would make it easier to send Bonner on his way. Not sure what you can get in return for him though.

It's only a 10 day contract. If promising the Spurs can extend another one. After that it's sign or say bye. Can't hurt and might show some promise. Little risk with more reward if he has any gas left in the tank. Though I wouild have liked a more physical defensively minded player but who's really available now? As stated in other threads there are very few bigs that fit our needs and most are under contract so the price of getting one would be too high now IMO.

    Damn Ian!

Another one I have seen is a one handed rebound dunk. Pretty impressive. It was last year.
he actually has more, nice head fakes drives a la Manu. He might have it in him. Especially since he is given a chance with the SPurs, i think he will bring a lot of energy. Awesome oppurtunity for him.

I don't see a problem with Bonner's intensity ... his rebounding could improve yes, but you have to admit he's overwhelmed everyone in terms of what his expectations (ride the bench) were this season. And I honestly think he's clutch, clutch players never panic, and Bonner sure wasn't panicking the other night despite being in a pretty helpless position out of bounds with no one open. That was an horry-esque play to manage to get the ball to Mason in prime position to score.

Croshere is longer, smarter and more agressive than Bonner. So i can see why Pop may have use for him.

Or maybe he will be trade bait for another big????

i'm not exactly overwhelmed by this. but, hey. it's only a 10-day contract. low-risk high-yield.

i don't want a center who can shoot jumpshots. i want one who rebounds and beat the of the opposing bigs.

The E-N doesn't have much to say.

    Spurs sign veteran Croshere
    By LeAnna Kosub

The Spurs signed veteran forward Austin Croshere to a 10-day contract on Friday.

Croshere, a 6-foot-10 former Providence star, had been released by the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 6. He played in 11 games, averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds. He owns a career field-goal percentage of 40.8 percent.

Croshere, in his 12th NBA season, also had playing stints with the Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors.

I wouldn't say its a problem. But we may see a difference in intensity if Austin still has some left after 12 years. If Bonner could improve in that area he would be a bigger threat. PEOPLE i am not knocking BONNER.

i do admit he has exceeded my expectations. I think we will have to wait on the clutch factor. If he continues to show clutch in a few more big situations I will concur.

It was an awesome pass. I had know idea were it was going to go. Props to Mason for staying inbounds.

I think Oberto still hurt and is only in uni because of the lack of big men, to be put in if Bonner & Thomas get into foul trouble.

I think wth the Spurs signing Austin Croshere, Fab will be in street clothes
